Xbox One controller not turning off after turning off console

I've only ran into this problem in the past couple weeks or so, but whenever I go ahead and turn off my console, my controller won't turn off. It only turns off after it's idled for some time or if I pull out the battery (using the rechargeable battery
pack). I tried turning off the system by "Xbox, Turn Off", pressing the power button, and turning off the console using the controller and they all result in the same thing where my controller still has the Xbox button glowing. I checked for available controller
updates and it says my controller is up to date. Anyone can help me out here?

Can't Connecting Multiple Wired Controllers!!!!

That's an odd issue. I would like to suggest turning the console off and plugging in only one controller before turning it on. After a gamertag has been signed in there try plugging in the other controller and logging in the second gamertag.

 

Controller turning off?

I had a similar issue where the contacts were not touching fully.... I sort of bent the connectors on the controller out more for a better fit... has worked like a charm ever since... I think it happens when you force the rechargeable battery in at the
wrong angle...

 

i'm having the same problem, also my console used to turn on when i turned on my controller and now it doesn't. i've tried googling the problem and this is the only page that came up that had anything to do with what i was talking about

 

also try holding down the guide button on the controller after your xbox is off that turns off the controller for me. that way you dont have to mess with the battery pack everytime.

Sorry to hear about the controller issues. Does this issue occur with multiple controllers or just one controller? I recommend trying a few troubleshooting steps if you haven't already to see if we can get this issue sorted.

Please give the following steps a try:

• Press and hold the power button on your Xbox One console for 5 seconds.
  
• Once your console is powered off, unplug the power cord.
  
• Remove the batteries from your controller.
  
• Wait 5 minutes and then plug in your console and insert the batteries into the controller.
  
• Power on your console and once your controller is connected, try powering off your console to see if the issue continues.

If you are unable to try a different controller, I recommend trying a fresh set of batteries in the controller. If the issue continues, you may want to look into getting your controller replaced. You can start the replacement process through our Online

After the latest Xbox One August Update, I'm not running into this issue anymore. Has that resolved it for you, Mnkymn89?

 

While not a similar issue, I am unable to turn off my controller manually. Pressing the "XBox" button for 3 seconds should bring a pop up on screen asking if I want to turn off the controller or the console. That doesn't seem to be happening. I tried removing
the batteries and powering the controller on again. Did not work then either.
