Xbox One controller not letting me use mic

Ok so my controller won't let me use a mic. I have tried to use several different mics and none of them have worked. The reason I know it's my controller is because it makes the noise when you plug it in but it still wont work. I don't really want to buy
a new controller because then it's an even bigger deal when that controller doesn't work. Has someone been in the same situation and been able to fix it. Thanks

Stereo Headset Adapter Mic Monitoring

If you use the adapter from xbox you will not be able to have mic monitoring. you can buy an adapter from turtle beach that allows mic monitoring. Xbox is being really dumb not letting people use mic monitoring with the xbox adapters

Controller not letting MIC work

Hello, My Xbox 1 controller, when ever I put a 3.5 cord in for my mic into it, it sometimes just completely makes it so I can't use my mic anymore. Like if I move it wrong or something like that it wont let me talk or wont let me hear anything. If I move
it wrong or something like that it just simply doesn't work, and then I have turn my controller back off, unplug my mic and then it still wont work. Half the time it doesn't even reconignze there is a mic. Do I just simply need a new Controller?

Hello I am sorry your controller is not working, does your controller have a built in audio jack or an adapter? If it is the internal audio jack you can contact xbox support here Xbox One Wireless Controller Help | Fix Your Xbox One Controller
to see if you can repair or replace your controller. Sometimes its just as expensive as buying a new one though so you'll just have to find out how much it is. If its an adapter you can simply buy a new one and see if that works better, most stores have adapters
for sale and they are fairly cheap.

Before you do that please try deleting your gamertag from the console then press the start button on it for 10 seconds till it shuts down. When it restarts redownload your gamertag and, with luck, you should be able to use your mic again.

They say the sensor for the controller is in the Kinect, not in the Xbox One.

This could be your answer.

You can turn of the cam, the mic but need the Kinect to be on to let you use the controller.
