Xbox One Controller Not functioning after failed update

So I went to update my controller, and about 5% in it said the update has failed and my controller completely stopped functioning. I have done the troubleshooting tips and none have worked thus far. I contacted customer service via charge and was directed
to post on the forums. Being a member of the preview program, I was told my controller would be able to be replaced. Just looking for help or answers. Thanks!!

Xbox One controller not working after updating via Xbox Accessories app on Windows

I attempted to update my Xbox One controller today on Windows via the Xbox accessories application. The controller was connected via the xbox wireless adapter and functioning perfectly. The update eventually failed after some time and said to reconnect the
controller. After reconnecting the controller to Windows the Xbox Accessories application just says "connect a controller to get started".



The controller does not work in any game now either. I've tried connecting the controller directly via usb but have the same issue where it looks like it connects to Windows but doesn't actually function. It does show up in the device manager and attempting
to update drivers just says that the latest are already installed.



Is there a way to reset the controller to fix it?

Exactly same problem with you guys. My brand new Xbox Elite Controller failed to update twice and now it kind of "brick". These are the exact descriptions for those who might concern:

- First time plugin ever, the controller vibrated a little and the XBox Accessories saw my controller but failed to update.

- Second time, unpluged and pluged in as the app tell me to, the controller still vibrate a little, the app saw my controller, still failed to update, although the process bar did progress further than first time.

- Third time unpluged and pluged in, no vibrate this time and the app did not recognise my controller. Symptoms exactly like "MY Ryunam".

After digging through countless posts about kind of similar problems with XBox One Controller (not Elite). I found one potential solution is that I will need an XBox One Console, plug my controller to it and hope it will continue to perform the update correctly.
Problem is I do not have an XBox One Console so I cannot tell if this work or not.

 

May as well give support a return call for having you post in the forums was simply their way of giving you the run around.

It would be my guess that since you are a preview member, and the update, or failed update, bricked your controller. That apart from the normal warranty period, they should repair or replace it.

Just my opinion!

 

I've never updated either of my
DAY 23 controllers and they still work. That's just kwazy!

 

Did you try removing the batteries?

 

Thank you guys.. Yes I've tried all he trouble shooting tips as well as some "home remedies" from other players who's controllers were also bricked in a similar scenario. I figured they were giving me the runaround and will be calling back tomorrow
