Xbox one controller not connecting wirelessly

I just bought a new xbox 1 and the controller will not connect. I have had to use a USB to connect to do anything. it seems to work fine with the cord but its a wireless controller for crying out loud. all it does when I try to start it up without the cord
is the xbox button glows once, twice, then nothing. if I press and hold the little connect button nothing happens, button doesn't blink or anything. I have tried new batteries, I have updated the controller, nothing seems to work

Can you connect a Bluetooth Headset to Xbox One S controller

It will not work for headsets.

The Bluetooth capabilities are for connecting the controller to a PC wirelessly.

I can't use my Xbox one controller wirelessly.

 

Did you press and hold the sync buttons on both the console and the controller? You must do this for both to connect it if your Kinect doesn't recognize it or you have a console without a Kinect.

The sync button on the console can be found on the left side just in front of the USB port.

 

yes I did try that and it still did not work, but I just returned the entire system to Costco and got a new one since the remote wasn't working. the new remote works perfectly. So I would call this solved as a faulty wireless controller
