Xbox One controller not charging

Hi sorry if this has been asked before but I just had a quick look around and, while there appears to be numerous issues with the XBone controller, I didn't see this particular issue.

A while ago I purchased the Play & Charge kit. From day one, the cable that went into my controller was flimsy and I would usually have to prop the controller up on something just to get the charging light to stay on consistently. Anyways, that finally stopped
working a couple months ago.

So I switched to the short USB cable that comes with the controllers for updating as I heard any USB cable would charge my controller. Happily, that was the case for a while. Until now. Now when I connect my controller to my One with the USB cable, it just
shows the wired battery symbol - no longer the animated charging thingy. And it's just not a cosmetic change. My controller really won't charge.

I don't know if this is a recent issue produced by a recent update but I've been looking all over and haven't found an answer to my issue. Guys, I just want to charge my controller, help me please.

Xbox one defective controller

Xbox one wireless controller completely defective. Controller does not turn on at all. Tried it with the battery pack, did not work. Tried it with USB charging cable in the Xbox one still does not turn on. Not impressed with xbox one.

Hello,

I think your controller is charging.

You said you've a wired controller, so if it's plugged in the Xbox the green lights will not turn off, it indicates your controller is charging.

I just started getting this issue, though no difficulty charging previously. I have two controllers and one is hardly ever used and both died at the same time. Definitely not the controllers battery packs or cables. Tried multiple cables and still no joy.
No idea what just happened between last night and this afternoon.

As far as I'm aware, the play and charge controller is only for charging. Unlike the Xbox one controller, it does not turn teh wireless controller into a wired one. When you use the Play and Charge cable, your controller is still talking to the Xbox 360
wirelessly.

The wireless receiver is your best bet. That or, an actual wired controller.

You could try putting the charged battery into the controller with the dead battery. Or hook up the charging cable to the dead controller and the Xbox One.( It will charge while you play)

To resolve this issue, determine the faulty component and then replace that component:

The Xbox One Wireless Controller

To troubleshoot the wireless controller, try using AA batteries, or try a different Xbox One Rechargeable Battery Pack to verify that nothing is wrong with the controller. If the controller works with different batteries, it isn't causing the issue.

The Xbox One Play & Charge cable

To check whether the cable is the problem, try a different Play & Charge cable (or any standard USB to micro-USB cable) to charge the battery. If the battery charges correctly with a different cable, your charge cable is faulty.

The rechargeable battery

To troubleshoot the rechargeable battery, try the following:

Use a cotton swab and some isopropyl alcohol to clean the four gold contacts on the Xbox One Rechargeable Battery Pack and on the Xbox One Wireless Controller. Then try to charge the battery again.

Try a different Xbox One Rechargeable Battery Pack with the charge cable. If the second battery charges correctly, your original battery is faulty.
