    XBox One Controller No Sound from Headset


    I purchased the XBox One S console after Thanksgiving 2018. I purchased an additional controller the same day.

    My contollers and headsets were working fine. A friend of mine purchased their XBox One S console just after Christmas 2018. He purchased an additional controller too. Out of the box, neither controller worked with his headsets. He returned the controllers
    and the new ones work with his headsets.

    Yesterday both of my controllers stopped working with the headsets I own. They stopped working about 2 hours apart.

    Is there a way to fix this. The headsets are not the problem.

    I got an email from TB,

    "The Xbox One Update has to be applied to your Xbox One controller and console before your Turtle Beach headset will work properly. This update is supplied by Microsoft Corp., not by Turtle Beach.

    The headsets themselves do not have firmware to be updated. The update is for the Xbox One Controller and Adapter to allow chat and/or game audio to be sent from the controller.

    Your headset may get some sound from the Xbox One controller, even before you apply the update. However, the sound may be distorted or not work at all. To get the best experience from your Turtle Beach headset, you'll need to update the controller before
    using your Turtle Beach headset."

    If you can’t hear sound from the Xbox One Chat Headset, try the following solutions first:

    • Disconnect the headset, and then reconnect it firmly to the controller's expansion port.



      Note       Never pull on the headset cable when removing it from your controller. Remove your headset from your controller by pulling on the body of the headset plug.
    • Make sure the headset is not muted. To do this, check the mute button on the headset controls.
    • Try using a different controller or headset to check for a hardware malfunction.
    • If you’re not hearing sound while in Party Chat, but you can hear sound while using in-game chat or another app like Skype, see Troubleshoot parties on Xbox One.
    If these solutions don’t solve the problem, use the following troubleshooting solutions.

    So from the sounds of it the best bet is a headset that has the desired sound specs that likely plugs into the xbox but then broadcasts to the headset (game/system sound wireless) but chat sound/chat capabilities is direct from the controller (headset adapter)?

    If that is correct the A50s sound like the logical choice correct? Or is there another option?
