Xbox One Controller No Longer Connecting to Windows 10 Wireless Adapter

My Xbox One controller was successfully connecting to my PC via the Xbox Wireless Adapter for well over a year. About 2 weeks ago, it stopped syncing with the adapter when I would turn it on. The Xbox logo would simply blink on the controller as though it
was trying to find the adapter (the adapter light would even turn on at this point), and then the controller turns off.

The batteries are fine on the controller as I have already replaced them (twice, just to be sure). If I uninstall the Wireless Adapter drivers and reinstall, I can successfully sync my controller to the Adapter. But after I turn the controller off (by holding
the Xbox button), and turn it back on, I get the exact same behavior where the Xbox button lights up, blinks, and then the controller shuts off.

I have also updated firmware per support's request without any success. I can still use the controller via USB so it seems as though the controller is still good.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

    :)

Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows Begins Shipping Today - Xbox Wire

Xbox One Controller No Longer Connecting to Windows 10 Wireless Adapter [IMG]

In June, we announced the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows as part of our commitment for designing Xbox accessories to support both Xbox and Windows. Today, we’re excited to share that we’ve started to ship to retailers in most markets around the world, including the U.S.

With the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows, you’ll simply plug the Adapter into the USB 2.0 or 3.0 port of your Windows 10 PC laptop or tablet and bind the Adapter to your Wireless Controller to enable the same gaming experience you’re used to on Xbox One, including in-game chat and high-quality stereo audio. The Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows accommodates up to eight controllers per unit, and up to four chat headsets or two stereo headsets.

If you haven’t had a chance to try game streaming just yet, check out these step-by-step instructions. And be sure to try some of this year’s blockbuster games with built-in controller support including Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta, andFable Legends.

The Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows will be available for $24.99 USD (MSRP) or bundled with an Xbox One Wireless Controller for $79.95 USD (MSRP).

Why Can't 360 Controllers Work On Xbox One?

A friend of mine who faced the same problem told me about a workaround, if you have Windows 10. Set up streaming from the XBox One to your computer and connect the controller to your computer. If you have a wireless controller, use an adapter.

Can the X Box One Wireless Controller with Bluetooth also be used with the X Box One Wireless Adapter for Windows 10?

    Hi Beau,

Thank you for coming to the Xbox forums, I'd be happy to answer that.

The Xbox One Wireless controller with Bluetooth can be connected to a Windows 10 PC with a USB cable, Bluetooth, or with the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10, so yes, it can be connected via the adapter. The Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 is not
compatible with an Xbox 360 controller and will need the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows. I'll provide the support articles with this information:

    I hope this helps!

Xbox wireless controller doesn't vibrate in bluetooth mode

    Hi annix,

The OP posted this thread under the "Gaming on Windows PC/PC Gaming" category of the Xbox forums. Also contrary to popular belief, the Xbox One console does not support Bluetooth wireless technology. The controllers connect to the console using a proprietary
wireless technology unique to the console and the
Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows 10
. Bluetooth connectivity is reserved for Windows 10 only and available on current production of Xbox One wireless controllers.

I hope that clears things up.

Xbox one controller not connecting to Xbox Wireless Adapter for win10

Summary: I fixed it by plugging USB cable into a controller and pc, win 10 recognized it, system restart was required and after that controller was working wirelessly also.

Longer description: I installed fresh windows 10, downloaded and installed all win updates, then I tried all these steps and at the end controller started working.

    1) plugged wireless adapter into USB windows 10 recognized it but Xbox one controller won't connect (keep on blinking)

    2) plugged wireless adapter into another USB port but Xbox one controller won't connect (keep on blinking)

    3) plugged wireless adapter into another USB port started task manager removed Xbox one adapter, windows found it again but still noting (gamepad keep on blinking)

    4) plugged wireless adapter into another USB port (front) started task manager removed Xbox one adapter and Xbox drivers, windows found it again installed it but still noting (gamepad keep on blinking)

    5) FINALLY, I fixed it by plugging USB cable into a controller and pc, win 10 recognized it, system restart was required and after that controller was working wirelessly also.

Does the newer controller (with Bluetooth support) still be able to use the wireless receiver?

Audio via 2 Xbox one controllers via laptop

    Hello Algreco,

Thanks for keeping us updated. This function is possible according to a Bluetooth support article that compares connecting via the Wireless adapter : Connect
and troubleshoot Bluetooth on your Xbox One Wireless Controller

"Windows 10 - Xbox Wireless Controller and Xbox Stereo Headset – 2

Note Wireless connection requires Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows"

What happens if you try connecting the player 2 controller first, so that it is now considered player 1. Are you able to hear audio from the headset now? If not, then the controller could be faulty.
