I'm terribly disappointed with my purchase of the XB1 Controller Stereo Adapter. After the update to the controller I was delighted because I could hear the game play better than ever (though some games carried a bit of static, looking at you Halo MCC) but
then crestfallen when I got into a party with some friends and none of them could hear me. I purchased an OMTP to CTIA adapter but no solution. :-/

I hope that there's something in the works or hopefully I'm just doing something wrong. :-/

Hi!

Check in controller settings and verify that the microphone is not turned off.

Alternatively try updating the controller:

Running into the same thing with my Aviators but I haven't been able to find an OMTP to CTIA adapter (searches on Amazon just return CTIA to OMTP connections).

If I understand your question...

Q: If you buy the Stereo Adapter, will this allow you to hear sound.

A: Yes, the stereo adapter will allow you to plug in headphones to hear sound. I omitted the headset that comes with the adapter just in case you already have headphones.

(The Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter lets you plug a compatible chat or stereo headset into the Xbox One Controller to control your audio experience without taking your hands off the controller.)

The adapter will work with many existing headphones, but you can opt to buy the Xbox Headphones (w/Mic) and adapter too

I got my Headset / adapter on the 2/26/2014, from MS store. An after March 5, console update, and updating my controller. everything is working fine, great sound to the headset. Support is telling you March 7, because the MS Store, stop shipping them until
March 7, because of the update for the controller was not out. If your console is updated, with March 5 update, then you have the controller update too.

With the stereo chat adapter for Xbox One controllers, you can use any headset with a 3.5mm jack and through that you can play game/system sounds as well as chat.

will produce sound from the xbox one controller to the xbox one stereo adapter which the headphones will allow you to plug the XBox Headphones in and hear sound and chat with the mic.
