Xbox one controller lost sound.

I have been having exactly the same problem on my sons xbox for a few weeks ... worked one day then not the next. A microphone with a line through it appeared on the screen next to the battery. Have tried all the hints & tips for fixing it but nothing has
worked.

Surely Xbox have a fix for this problem as it seems many people have it.

Someone help!

If thats the case then it must be a software issue so there should be fix.

Sorry for the inconvenience but unfortunately
it appears that Microsoft has introduced an incompatibility between controllers and consoles that is impacting the 3.5mm headset jack. It is unknown how long it will take before they release an update to fix that issue.

The Microsoft stereo headset adapter
is one possible workaround. Another workaround to the issue is the Microsoft
Chatpad. While this may be a bit more expensive than the headset adapter, it has some added benefits:

• keyboard for easier typing in messages
  etc, can also be used as mappable controls for games like War Thunder
• Built-in volume, game/party chat mixer adjustment

A regular pair of headphones would also work. I know it's annoying to have to spend more money to fix an issue that
is beyond your control however this will likely be the fastest way that you can resolve the issue at this time.

I've been noticing this problem more and more recently. One fix that seems to solve this error for everyone is to use an Xbox controller headset adapter.

I had already tried all of those. I've been into the settings and tried to adjust the volume but the volume tab is greyed out and won't let me adjust it.
