Xbox One Controller Left Analog Stick Drift

I have had my console for under a year and recently the left analog stick has started to drift and it is starting to make game unplayable because my controller wont stop moving my person forward unless I am constantly pushing the stick back. I have never
done anything crazy with the analog stick, it has received mild use over the past couple of months. I am really disappointed with Microsoft and that they can not make a reliable controller that lasts.

Any ideas on removing analog drift?

I have had my Xbox one controller since late September 2014 and my controllers left analog stick has started to get some real bad drift almost to the point where is it impossible to use it properly. I'm pretty low on cash at the moment so buying a new controller
isn't an option for me at the moment. So I was wondering if anyone else had real bad analog drift that they managed to get rid of some how?

Drifts are often caused when the pot settings on the 3D mods are changed.

What can tweak those NM settings?

Dirt, grime, food particles etc finding their way inside and building up BETWEEN the thumbstick and pcb board. Not knowing this YOU game as you always do, push forward, left, right, back, click down. And.... the gunk buildup ever so slightely prevents full
movement and thus bends the pot plate spring which in turn causes drift.

Prevention: Keep you controller clean. Wash your hands, dont eat/drink and game at the same time.

Yes, even in the electronic age: Good housekeeping is the 1st step in preventive maintaince.

 

There are a great many controllers that suffer from this that have been well looked after.

Unfortunately they seem to last just long enough to fulfill the minimum requirements for warranty.

In your case though if you're in the UK your controller would still be within warranty.

If you are outside the Us check out your statutory consumer rights.

 

Any household fix without paying $50 for a new one?

 

Even if we knew of any we couldnt post it. But here is a hint....

This happened to my right stick on both of my controllers and causes me to look straight up in every game. Don't do what other people say and take the stick out and remove a little piece, it doesn't work. I carefully (lol, not) smashed the right stick with
my fist and a rubber mallet. Works great. Something to do with the stick not completely fitting into the spot it is supposed to be in as far as i know.
