Xbox One Controller Keeps Shutting Off

Hello. For the past 3 months I have been having issues with my Xbox One controllers. They keep randomly shutting down while playing any game. I have tried 3 different controllers and have gotten the same result. It even does it if I am going through an app.
I could be in the middle of a game and the controller shuts off. It just recently started fighting me to turn back on. It could take up to 2 minutes to do so. They usually shut off right away again. I have tried everything suggested in the Controller issue
thread. Is there something wrong with the Xbox?

Hi there! The controller itself possibly has outlived it's life time. It might be a faulty connector (The springs on the bottom of the battery pack) which means it loses the capability (at that time) to power the controller. I suggest try using rechargable
batteries, or buy a new contoller. (They are pretty cheap depending on the brand) I hope this helps

 

Could you possibly take your controllers to a friend or family member's house and try it on their console? That would help to determine if it is in fact a problem with the console. Let us know. Good Luck!

 

I tried it on my brother's console and they work.

 

Then you could try his controller on your console and it doesn't work the problem is with your console.

However, did you try doing a hard reset of your console? Hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart
the console. Once it is back up and operational test for results.

If that doesn't correct the issue then I would defer back to my original statement in this post. Good Luck!

 

The reason why the Troubleshooting Guide for XB1 controllers doesn't work most times is because a very important step is missing.

The controllers themselves are wireless, and in order to reassign or update them this requires you to have a USB cable - HOWEVER, this MUST be done whilst no batteries/battery pack are attached. The reason for this is, when on, the controllers are constatly
trying to connect wirelessly, which disables connecting them with the cable... as a result, you're shooting yourself in the foot trying to fix them.

Microsoft really should update their guides to reflect this.

 

For me turning off the device association service worked in fixing this
