Xbox One Controller issues need help - have tried it all

I have two Xbox One controllers that I haven't used much over the past year. However, I've several times recently tried to use the controller and it keeps giving me an error message saying 'low batteries'. Here are the few things I've checked an none have
worked:

(1) Changed the batteries (multiple times for both controllers)

(2) Reset the Xbox One console (instructions provided online)

(3) Tried to update the controller firmware but both are up-to-date

(4) Plugged in the controllers w/ USB cables

-this has worked and the controller works; however, I eventually unplug and get the error message 'low batteries' and it shuts down

Maybe make sure the console is up to date, or you might have a loose connection inside the controller, if it is still on warranty you could try sending it in for repair.

Hi,

Which type of batteries are you using? and did you try to hard restart your xbox.

To do this hold the power button on the xbox one for 10 seconds till it powers down then remove the wire from the back and press the xbox button again to discharge it wait for another 10-15 second plug the wire back in and switch on the console and check
again

Sorry to hear about the issue. Have you tried all of the steps on our
Xbox One Controller Troubleshooter? Additionally do you happen to be able to try a different Xbox One controller on your Xbox One to narrow the issue down further? If you have already been down that path, your Xbox One controller may need to be repaired.
