  1. Xbox One controller issues and Microsoft's negligence

After many months of excitedly waiting, Last September I got my pre-ordered Forza edition Xbox One. I've played many games from racing to sports to FPS and have enjoyed all of it thoroughly. However the past month and a half my controller has been showing
the common left joy stick drift problem. Now this wasn't really a big deal and I played on dealing with it and last week it finally stopped. So I go to play last night and suddenly I find myself unable to sprint in Destiny. I go through the common fixes of
resetting my Xbox and resyncing my controller and still get nothing. The analog stick itself works fine, just the click part of it (apparently another common problem). I test with another controller and the sprint works fine, so it is obviously my controller.
So I calmly proceed to contact xbox support and see what they can do as I still within 6 months of purchasing my xbox. This is what I don't understand; xbox support tells me accessories have a 90 day warranty on them and the only thing he could suggest is
a new controller or a repair kit. A.) I cannot afford a new controller as they are already ridiculously priced, B.) I don't feel comfortable taking apart my controller, it may be easy, but if I mess up then Microsoft will instantly see it as my fault and not
help at all. This is ridiculous Microsoft, I've been a loyal customer for over a decade and you are obviously aware of these defects in your controller, and yet you can't offer anything to help. Because of your not great design, I have to find $70 (who as
a college student, I do not have) to continue playing games I love, and at this point of what I feel is unfair customer support, I might as well buy a whole new (and working fine) PS4.

    :)

Need help. My xbox one won't stop scrolling to the right.

My default controller with the OG Xbox One did this too. First I called to report the issue then I returned it to a Microsoft store and they switched it.

Used 3 different controllers since then with no issues.

You keep mentioning "common problem". I have two controllers that don't drift or have problems clicking to sprint, nor have my friends mentioned these problems; over 2,000 hours on the one controller. I do have one friend with a PS4 that has a bad bumper
on his controller...so with this logic I could state, "The PS4 has a 100% more problems with their controllers!". But I won't...that would just be snarky and wrong of me. ;-)

I do give you props for mentioning you're a "loyal customer" and you "might as well buy a whole new (and working fine) PS4.".

    Peace, J.R.

Day one controller and another controller bought in the first week of console release....neither have any problems. Sorry for your problem, and good luck. I suggest that buying a new controller will be cheaper than a whole console system.

Xbox 1 Day 1 Edition console with Kinect, and mine is still fine. But there could be some defective units out there. Controllers come with a warranty. I think in New Zealand my country, they come with a 1 year warranty instead of 3 months or what Microsoft
gives controllers for warranty. New Zealand and Australia have strong consumer rights legislation here. It has to be durable and last a reasonable amount of time according to consumer laws where I'm from. And 3 months or so is not reasonable for the price
you pay for a controller. So NZ gets a straight up 12 month warranty on it.

Things break it happens, I don't have a car not because I can't afford to buy one, but I can't afford to fix it if it breaks.

There are 3rd party controllers which are cheaper, afterglow do some nice ones although I haven't tried the XO ones.

I hope you get it sorted.

3 controllers now with this problem. Latest one is the Halo MC controller I got off the Mrs for xmas, started drifting forwards 2 days ago which sucks. So that's the green camo controller, Sunset Overdrive white controller and now the MC controller all with
the same problem. My day one 2013 controller is still ok though.

I've said it before though, I think it's from clicking the left stick to sprint that is the problem. Gonna have to get an Elite controller so I can map sprint to a paddle on the back I reckon.

^ive said that before, and I have been guilty of clicking and ramming the stick forward really hard in the vain hope I sprint faster, easy to do in MP games when your caught up in the heat of it. All you need to to do is click and push forward, you do
not need to hold the click down while pushing hard forward, im quite wary of it nowadays, Its also easier on your thumb Xbox One controller issues and Microsoft's negligence :)

One of the reasons it's such a "common" problem is the thumbsticks are pretty much the only moving parts that are constantly moving. They're also in constant contact with your hands while gaming. Snack while gaming? Sweaty hand gaming sessions? Smoking in
the room? Dusty area? Any one, or combination, of these can cause issues. Some much faster than others.

Moving parts wear out and break. Some people are much harder on their controllers than others, though quite often not intentionally, or even warily. Replacing controllers is part of having a gaming system.

I got my XOne about 2 weeks after it released. Got my Elite controller a few days before this past Christmas. My OG controller was still working when it was 'retired', although it was just starting to get a little "loose spot" near the center and would have
a slight catch when you first start to move it... all common signs (for me) that drift will soon follow. Then again, it had close to 3700 hours on it.

I've said it before though, I think it's from clicking the left stick to sprint that is the problem. Gonna have to get an Elite controller so I can map sprint to a paddle on the back I reckon.

^I haven't "clicked a stick" since I got my Elite... and I love it. I never liked clicking them anyway. Not just because of what you mentioned... it just never felt smooth and
I felt like I had less finite control when I had to do it. Complete ability to remap buttons/paddles/sticks FTW!

  15. Took some getting used to @ Genchy... the paddles are really easy to click on accident if you're not careful of where you rest your fingers. But after I got used to them... wow. I couldn't go back to having to reach for the buttons I need quick access to
now, or having to reach for one that I'd rather be able to reach without my thumb leaving the stick.
