Xbox one controller home button

All of my xbox controllers can turn on my xbox one with the home button but after that it doesn't work. I can't go back to home to switch games or take screenshot. I have to turn off my xbox one to switch games.

Can anyone tell me what's wrong?

There is the light clicking but the home button issue must be a defect as my home button works flawlessly.

Have you tried doing a hard reset on your console? Hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart
the console. Once it is back up and operational test for results.

Also, make sure you controller is fully updated. Try resetting your controller. Remove the cable from the console to the controller if you are connected that way. Remove the batteries from the console for 5 minutes. Replace the batteries with new ones.

Too bad. Have you tried your controllers on a friends console to make sure they are performing correctly? At least you could rule out the controllers as being the issue and then focus completely on the console. As a last resort you may try doing a factory
reset on the console. Maybe someone else has some additional ideas. Good Luck!

Are you guys in the preview program?

 

Are you pushing the button in all the way? I have found the the home button doesn't always register a button push if you don't give it a firm press.

 

I've held it in to try to turn off the console too and it won't work

 

same thing here.

I try holding the button down pressing it twice and nothing happens and whenever i try to send a text message my whole Console freezes and i am force to unplug it and plug it back in

a few other people i know are having this issue

Genesis, you DONT have to make sure your controller is fully updated. I have the Xbox 1 Day One Edition console with Kinect. People never had to do Updates for their controllers on Xbox 360. Controller Updates are completely OPTIONAL where as Console Updates
are necessary. I've never updated my controller, and it still functions completely fine in everything.

Are you in the Preview Program thingy? You should be aware of the risks of it. You get unfinished software to test.... before Microsoft finishes it completely and releases it to everyone, not just some special group of people who are impatient and want to
try it out. I've heard reports "it wiped my consoles HDD" etc. I wouldn't want a BETA dashboard version running on my console. The software Microsoft makes on your console is the key thing running it. You don't want a buggy OS. I'm not in the preview thingy.

Try unplugging your console from the wall, then plug it back in again and turn it on. Or it could be a faulty controller. Make sure the controller is also synced with the console too.

 

Getting the same issue here it sometimes makes my frame-rate drop to 1 and it is hard to play most games that ask you to sign-in after you press start.
