Xbox one controller home button not working

Before the November update, the home button worked just fine. Being able to go back to the dash easy. Now... not so much. It turns the controller on but nothing more. I've even bought the new white controller from game stop. Nothing! Please fix this. I can't
find anything by googling and customer support isn't open yet.

How is your Elite Controller holding up?

Sounds like these elite controllers are crap

I have the Xbox one S controller and it's ok, has allot of clicking noises especially the D pad and the home button doesn't respond unless you press it hard.
My two other original day one Xbox one controllers are working flawlessly and better than the Xbox one S controllerClick to expand...

There is the light clicking but the home button issue must be a defect as my home button works flawlessly.

Xbox one controller home button not working

my xbox one controller home button isn't working, it isn't taking me home, nor can I shut the Xbox down. I can turn on the controller with the button so I know the button itself isn't broken. I have tried to fully shut down my xbox and turn it back on, but
that didn't work either, it was working fine a while ago. Help me please, thanks.

Can you describe further what is not working.

In the NXOE update, things have changed but holding the xbox logo on the controller brings up power options while double tapping brings up the guide.

Because you've purchased a new controller, my first though is to ask if you've performed a hard reset in the last 30 days. (Hold the xbox logo on the console, not the controller, until the system shuts off)

OK strange new development/observation

it appears if i plug the controller into the xbox via usb, than still the home button doesn't work, HOWEVER if i remove the batteries making the controller dependent on the xbox for power then the HOME BUTTON WORKS IMMEDIATELY! while plugged into the xbox
with a working home button if i put the batteries back into the controller, without hitting anything, the home button stops working again.

and remember the controller will turn the xbox on via home button even while not connected by USB...

what in the world is up with this controller?!

have you checked the battery area to see if anything is loose? also try a micro USB cable from your console to the controller to make sure its not the power that's an issue.
