    Xbox one controller has loose USB connector


    Hi ive been using my wireless titanfall controller since launch but now find when it comes to charge or update the controller the cable is so loose that it's impossible to maintain connection so I can't recharge or update there's a good 8mm of play I've
    tried other cables with the same effect. It's as if something in the controller has stretched so I was wondering if anyone knows of a way of re tightening the USB port somehow

    SOLVED.

    I'm going to sound like an idiot here, but it seems that connection between the USB plug and Xbox plug was loose. I just reconnected them and everything works. Honestly I didn't even know that the wire was in two parts (original Xbox connector + PC USB connector).
    I feel dumb...

    Am i missing something here?

    I just bought a wired GameStop wired controller for my Xbox 360. However, when I get home, it has a PS2 connector on the end, instead of a USB to plug into the Xbox. Was I supposed to buy a PS2 to USB adapter for the end, or should one have came with the
    controller or what?

    I can only assume you're now out of warranty? You can always double check @ https://myservice.xbox.com/en-GB/Pages/welcome.aspx

    If that's the case and you've checked to make sure it's not the cables then I'd probably open up the controller and see what's going on in there (Multiple guides on YouTube) and have a qiuck look over it to see if there is anything that looks a little odd.

    But I would suggest contacting Support even if you're out of warranty as if it's only by a few weeks or so they may take pity on you and provide a replacement Xbox one controller has loose USB connector ;) Make sure you do this before opening the controller as this will most likely void any warranty.

    The connector design of the wired xbox one controller is terrible. I've had to wired controllers fail due to loose connectors. Microsoft will not respond nor help with the issue. I feel ripped off.

    Hi,

    I'm a PC gamer and an Xbox One gamer (more PC now though) and I have used several official 'play and charge' cables for use on both the console and a PC.

    From a technical point there is nothing overly special about these USB to Micro USB cables. You can use them to charge Xbox controller batteries, power the controller without batteries or to charge any older style Android phones/tablets that utilise Micro
    USB connectors for charging or data transfer. Indeed, this is why your Samsung micro USB cable works with your Xbox One controller.

    Physically I've had some fail on me, which is why I've started using longer third party cables. The main issue is that the Micro USB connector can be damaged and thereafter provide only a loose connection. This is especially true if the controller is dropped
    with the cable still inserted. Had this happen a few days ago. I dropped the pad on the floor and the connector became loose. But my old Samsung cable worked just fine still.

    If you need a new cable just look for a standard 'Micro USB' Sync and charge' from sites such as Amazon. They will work fine with the controller and PC.
