    Xbox One Controller for Windows ... not charging?


    Hey all, quick question. Just got the new Xbox One controller for Windows and plugged it into my PC with the provided USB wire. The instructions show a picture of the controller plugged in with the guide button lit up and the orange light on the wire is
    present (the one that lights up when you are charging on the Xbox One console.) Should the controller be charging up when connected to PC? The light does not turn on so I'm guessing it isn't charging the batteries.

    Not a big deal if it shouldn't charge, I just can't tell from the instructions whether it should or not. Thanx in advance!

    No, the Play and Charge kit does not convert a wireless controller into a wired one, it simply charges the controller. If you want a wireless controller to work on a Windows PC you will need the Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows.

    The Xbox 360 controllers need a special wireless connector to work with Windows. The 360 controllers, different from the Xbox One controllers, do not send input signals over the charge and play cable to the computer or console, those are only for charging
    the batteries in the controller.

    You would need
    this accessory for it to work on a PC     or buy a specifically a wired Xbox 360 controller.

    Are you sure the Xbox 360 is a wired Xbox 360 controller, and not connected by a separate cable like the play and charge cable? If it is the play and charge cable, it will not work on Windows 10, as it only charges the batteries on a PC. If it is a actual
    wired controller, then Windows 10 should detect and then download the drivers if needed.
