Xbox One controller for PC chatpad not working, light blinking orange

I purchased a chatpad for my computer's Xbox One controller a while ago and I haven't been able to use it. The light is blinking orange and it won't change to green. The chatpad has been tested in Steam big picture mode with no input, and I've tried
updating drivers via the device manager with no success. I've contacted support and been redirected more than three times and the last representative I talked to said that I should have to wait until drivers are released before I can use my chatpad. Is there
any estimated date on when the drivers will be released or is there any way I can use it before then? It's kind of annoying how it's advertised as working on Windows 10 yet it doesn't seem to work at all on my PC's Xbox One controller.

I am having the same issue the Chatpad blinking an orange light. after updating the controller on windows 10, it still does not function.

won't install new drivers required.

 

you have to download the xbox app on your pc and update the controller i had the same problem it works fine now

 

same issue here on my end. xbox elite controller was updating then it closed out then prompted me to redo the update it finished and orange light kept blinking. tried 3.5mm controller update went through no issue but light still blinking. controllers work
no problem but chatpad still not working. if it helps i did it over wireless on elite and usb with 3.5mm controller. hopefully op has a fix by now not finding anything on youtube about this.

 

I also have same problem "after update", my chat pad's oran light keep blinking. but this xbox app still show's nothing to update. Game pad working fine but chat pad doesn't working after update this stupid firmware!!!

 

Same Issue. Elite controller and chatpad were working great when I first connected them to windows 10, but I just downloaded the xbox accessories app on w10 and updated the controller OTA and bam, blinking orange light. chatpad no longer compatible???

Microsoft - FIX THIS!

Update the Xbox Accessories app so that I can rollback the firmware or release firmware that is actually tested!

For F's sake, you have 2 platforms (xbox one, windows 10), 3 different controller (old controller, new w/3.5mm jack, elite) and 4 accessory combos (headset, headset adapter, chatpad, none). The least you could do is TEST all 24 of these combos before rolling
out a forced update.

 

Found the *sort of* answer to this.

I went to a buddys place and used his xbox one to re-rerun the firmware update for my elite controller. After doing that update, the chatpad started working. The Xbox One accessories app works with it in windows 10. Windows 10 does not have support for re-mapping
chatpad keys.

It doesn't help that this thread has a "This question has been answered" tag on it. It's a big problem. I lost my receipt so I'm suck with my stupid useless chatpad now. :/

 

update windows to the current version (check microsoft to see which is current) then follow these steps and it should work
