Xbox One controller firmware update, on PC

We need a way to update the firmware on the Xbox One controller through a Windows 10 PC. Thus far, the only option I have been given is to take the controller to a physical MS store and update it in person. This should not be so difficult. We have an Xbox
app. There is a tab to "Connect" and "Add a device". Why can we not push updates to the firmware?

Controller regularly disconnects/reconnects on PC

Have you downloaded and installed the drivers for Xbox One controllers on PC?

If you have an Xbox One, could you use that to update the controller's firmware (Settings>System>Update Controller)?

Xbox One Wireless Controller Sound Issues

Controller firmware isn't the same as Windows driver.

Update your device using "Xbox Accessories" application by following manual:

support.xbox.com/.../update-controller-for-stereo-headset-adapter

The Xbox Accessories app is the right place for this. In an upcoming update for the app, firmware update support will be included for all controllers within the app.

First I've heard of this app, thank you for mentioning it. I installed it, but for now it seems to do nothing other than display a controller on the screen.

Update: With the Nov 10, 2015 release of the newest version of Windows 10, it seems to have included a refresh on the Xbox Accessories app. With the device plugged in via USB, it was about to push an update to the controller.

I have a powera controller also and experienced the same issues. U will need to plug it into a PC then go to powera website to update the firmware and calibrate it. Here's the link

Perhaps this could be a configuration setting on your particular PC? Do you have a PC tower or a laptop? I ask this because this isn't something I'm aware of. My Xbox One controller is connected to my PC via USB cable, and as far as I'm aware, my controller
comes on as soon as I boot into Windows. I don't have to press the Xbox button to turn on the controller manually.

As for the Accessories update, this isn't a driver update, it's a firmware update that is a applied directly to the controller. Firmware updates can not be downgraded.

Did you try updating the firmware on ur controller? I had this happen to two of my xbox elite controllers aswell one of them was a wolferine elite, it wont update firmware on xbox, or pc. They were wired, and it was the wire inpluck that was broken. Hope
you figure it out, before warrenty runs out
