    Xbox One controller failed update / now blinks continuously and is unrecognizable to console


    To anyone else who has experienced my issue any insight is much appreciated.

    ISSUE: Standard Xbox One controller stopped functioning properly after failed controller update. Xbox controller is not recognized and blinks repeatedly no matter how it is connected (wirelessly to my Xbox One, plugged in via USB to my Xbox One, plugged
    in via USB to my PC)

    I have tried every means posted in the support topics to get my Controller to connect properly with no success.

    I have tried re-syncing via the sync button on the console and controller (console tries to sync, controller just continues it's steady blinking, resolves to nothing)

    I have tried hard reboot on console and plugging in via USB with batteries removed (controller just blinks continuously, console does not recognize controller, unresponsive)

    I have tried plugging into my PC via USB to update controller using the app (Same issue, controller blinks continuously, PC won't recognize controller)

    I have tried holding down the Xbox Home button while connected to my console via USB (same results, nothing but blinking)

    I have tried unplugging the console for a bit and plugging back in, start up (same results)

    I have tried every USB port in the console with 2 different USB cords (same results)

    I tested connecting another controller that has updates already applied and it connects just fine.

    My issue seems to be the same as this but this guy's issue does not look like it was ever resolved, possibly due to his demeanor though I can understand how frustrating this is

    Just got off chat with Xbox tech and had no fix for me. Basically wanted me to send in for replacement but after learning I don't have a receipt for the controller, would
    not accept it (told me to try to sell for parts or pay to have fixed at a Gamestop or somewhere).

    I obviously refuse to pay to have it fixed or scrap it for parts. The controller is less than 3 months old, lightly used, no physical damage and was fully functional before the failed update.

    I believe Microsoft needs to up their etiquette game when it comes to controller replacement due to Microsoft software issues.

    i tried to update my controller last night and after the update reached 100% i was told there was an error and the controller did not work after that and all it would do was blink. So as any reasonable person would do I restarted my console. As of now ive
    restarted my console many times, i have it plugged into a USB, and ive been on plenty of forums and all problems have been close but a USB worked for other people. If I go to devices and accessories to try to restart the update the controller is not seen by
    the xbox. I plugged it into my laptop aswell and this "update" made my controller completely unrecognizable at this point. and now all it does is blink if you hold the sync button there is no change in blinking speed, and from what i can tell no commands are
    being picked up from the controller either.

    Xbox one will not stay connected to controllers

    My Xbox one continuously drops the connection to the wireless controllers. I have tried all of the following:

    Changing batteries.

    Resetting Console (both soft and factory)

    preforming a controller update and console

    power cycling the console with the controller plugged in and not.

    Wirelessly syncing the controller (Note: when the button on the side of the Xbox is pressed or held it does not start to blink at all)

    It has now gotten to the point where the controller has top be physically plugged in to remain connected to the Xbox One. I have been instructed to create this topic by a Microsoft support employee and request a Xbox One Live Server
    reset for my console.

    Exactly same problem with you guys. My brand new Xbox Elite Controller failed to update twice and now it kind of "brick". These are the exact descriptions for those who might concern:

    - First time plugin ever, the controller vibrated a little and the XBox Accessories saw my controller but failed to update.

    - Second time, unpluged and pluged in as the app tell me to, the controller still vibrate a little, the app saw my controller, still failed to update, although the process bar did progress further than first time.

    - Third time unpluged and pluged in, no vibrate this time and the app did not recognise my controller. Symptoms exactly like "MY Ryunam".

    After digging through countless posts about kind of similar problems with XBox One Controller (not Elite). I found one potential solution is that I will need an XBox One Console, plug my controller to it and hope it will continue to perform the update correctly.
    Problem is I do not have an XBox One Console so I cannot tell if this work or not.

    The hardware of the Xbox One is "region free". So with the exception of the external power supply of the old Xbox One, every accessory will work with every Xbox One console.

    As for the controller not connecting: Try connecting the controller with a Micro USB cable to the Xbox One S, and then check that you are able to control the console.

    If it works via USB cable, open up the Xbox Accessories App, and make sure the controller has the most up-to-date firmware. Be careful not to break the connection during the firmware update, as this will leave the controller unusable, and it has to be sent
    in for replacement.

    After the controller has been updated, it should be automatically be assigned to the console since it was connected to the console via USB.

    After you remove the USB cable, the controller should now work with the console.

    If not, you can try to re-bind it by pressing the small button on the front of the controller, and the Bind button below the Power button of the console. If you press those buttons, the Xbox logo on the controller and console should blink, and eventually
    stop blinking and be solid lit again.

    Now the controller should work.

    Maybe somehow you missed that im not a complete dumb *** and i have tried all the simple stuff and more innovative ways to fix the problem without success. My controller is now a brick that i cant even get my laptop to recognize as anything being connected.
    All the controller does is steadily blink for days on end no matter what buttons i press, the sync button does not change the pace of the blinking. That update destroyed my controller so lets just skip the bull *** and send me a new controller, please.
