    XBox One Controller - driver not installed?


    Dear Support Community,

    I tried to connect my newly bougth XBox One Controller to my laptop today. I downloaded and executed the official driver file for my system (x64, I am using an Alienware Laptop running Windows 7) and connected the controller via a Micro USB cable to the laptop
    - however, it still said that there were no drivers available for the device. I tried reinstalling the drivers, removing old drivers in the device manager (using a trick to show hidden drivers for non-connected devices), and rebooted the laptop as well. Still,
    I got the same error message - no drivers found. I suspect that somehow, the driver does not get installed correctly. Also, I cannot choose the .msi driver file that I downloaded in order to install the driver manually using the device manager... Does anyone
    have an idea how to fix this? I intend to use the controller for playing Rocket League on Steam.

    XBox One Controller - driver not installed?

    I am having the exact same problem. But in my case, I was able to find those drivers here and install them here a while ago and they worked..... but I had to reformat my pc and now that i'm trying to find the drivers to download them again... I just can't
    seem to find them. Please help!

    Xbox One Controller PC Drivers

    Hi there! Have you downloaded the correct Bit version of the software? For example, if you have Windows 64-Bit and download a 32-Bit driver, it can often cause problems with the installation.

    When you have the driver downloaded, make sure the controller currently does not have a driver installed, and then run the driver installer as Admin.

    To uninstall the controller, go to Control Panel and click the controller. Then click Uninstall, and tick the box to remove device driver linked to it. This will allow it to be completely installed properly by the driver you manually downloaded.

    If Windows doesn’t install the driver automatically, you can update the driver manually via Device Manager. Follow
    these steps:

    1) On your keyboard, press
    Win+R(Windows logo key and R key) at the same time to invoke the run box.

    2) Type
    devmgmt.mscand press
    Enteron your keyboard.

    3) Expand the branch
    Microsoft Xbox One Controller.

    4) Right-click on the expanded Microsoft Xbox One Controller and select
    Update driver
    (On lower Windows 10 versions, select
    Update Driver Software).

    5) Click
    Search automatically for updated driver software. Then Windows will install
    the new driver for the device.

    6) Check to see if you can use the Xbox One Controller properly.

    You have the official driver you downloaded right?

    Go to Device Manager, look for the Xbox One controller, uninstall the device, and then run the driver installer again to get the controller working again.

    You can find an Xbox 360 controller emulator on the internet, then run the Xbox One controller through that.
