Xbox One Controller Drifts? Only Up on Analog

So this is my second controller my day one headset input jack never worked properly...So this one is constantly causing my character "currently playing Rise of Tomb Raider" To basically Auto-Walk like an MMO Game lol. I just hate I probably am going to need
to buy a third. tried cleaning around the analog stick with contact cleaner, but I am not sure if there is anything else I should do. Any Ideas? I assume sending to Microsoft will cost almost as much as a new one, anyone have experience with that?

Controller keeps looking up

Same problem here, my right analog stick on xbox one controller drifts immediately up when launching any game. This problem started out of nowhere after only 8 months of normal use. Tried updating controller, changing batteries, nothing works. Controller
is worthless now.

I'm on my second Xbox one controller ,identical analogs even after the controller update .

 

My sons pad was drifting but updating it fixed the issue. Give it a go.

 

Self repair isn't allowed to be discussed on these forums but you could always check out the internet for answers *wink**wink* might save you some money.

 

It seem's to be a common-ish problem, I've tried all sorts but the only thing that works is to replace it.

Just out of curiosity. Do you play a lot of games where you press the left stick to sprint? This is what I thought maybe the problems for myself. I always used to get the left stick drifting left on the 360 controllers for some reason.

 

This problem does seem very common, I think there is a new thread nearly every day now regarding left thumbstick drifting up. I too have unfortunately suffered this problem and had to replace my pad.

 

Ive got two with that problem collecting dust behind my tv...

Brought a camo one and its been working fine, i dont think ill ever buy a black model again

I'm sorry to hear about your controller issues

I noticed that the " drifting " happends mostly for FPS games, especially with ones that you have to down click on them to sprint / run.

...........

I also notice that the " drifting " problem happends when I play Diablo 3.

..........

In conclusion, I think that the reliance on the analog sticks is a major determing factor on whether or not your controller will drift.
