    Xbox One Controller Drifting Up

I am having the same issue with my controller but it is the right analog. It just started last night and I've had my Xbox for less than a year. The stick isn't loose and I don't hear any rattling or anything so I don't understand. I can't play anything like
    that.

both of my controllers are right analog related and both drift upwards. Pretty specific and too identical to be operator error or user related. And considering the fact that in all my games i play I use the left analog stick more than the right just seems
pretty fishy to me. Is Mr. Quimby on vacation? or is he ignoring all long-time customers?

I fixed my controller for at least another 6 months by replacing the 3D Controller Joystick Axis Analog Sensor Module, which only cost $2.15 for the part. It was actually an easy fix if you know how to solder (soldering is very easy), but it still gets annoying
having to do it. So, does anyone know if you can use a xbox 360 3D Controller Joystick Axis Analog Sensor Module on an xbox one controller? The part looks and measures the same, but I don't know if it will act the same. Anybody have a clue, I know it was built
with a metal bracket opposed to plastic, so I'm wondering if that is why it doesn't break down as much as the xbox one. Please so input would be very appreciated!

I am having the same issue on the left analog sticks on both of my controllers, including the day one edition. It's obvious that the troubleshooting tips from Mister Quimby don't work so how about telling us what the actual issue is and why there is no fix
yet for a problem that has been around since launch. This issue makes games virtually unplayable.

I am happy to report that I was able to get mine replaced via one of the Microsoft retail stores. I hope others are able to get a satisfactory resolution!

I got some bizarre, conflicting responses from the different folks I worked with. At one point I asked about Microsoft Complete and whether there was an option to purchase that service. The online agent told me that you could not buy it 45 days after the
purchase of your Xbox console, but then gave me assurances that an exception could be granted. Here's that chat (emphasis mine)

    --------------------------------

Eugene: Is there a way to be considered for an exception? If so, who would I talk to?

Rojan: I'd like to do my best about getting the possibility of applying an MS complete for your account.

Rojan: May I have your console serial number and email address?

    Eugene: Sure. Email is <redacted>

    Rojan: Thanks. That's noted.

    Eugene: Serial # <redacted>

Rojan: Alright, I will have both information noted and that we will be doing our best in getting this enrolled to MS complete.

    Eugene: Sounds good

Rojan: You will be receiving an email confirmation within 24 hours about this MS complete registration. Xbox One Controller Drifting Up :)

Rojan: I really appreciate the time and effort you put into this. Is there anything else I can help you today?

Eugene: Just to clarify, this is a paid service I'm signing up for. What will the steps be once I receive the email confirmation?

Eugene: And are you saying you can get me this paid warranty extension
outside of the 45 day policy
    ?

Rojan: Yes, that will then advised you about the approved MS complete and that this will be applied on the account, for the payment it will then be discussed with you as you will also be contacted through email as well.

Eugene: Sounds great. I'm looking forward to getting this for my console.

Eugene: Anything I should do if I for some reason don't get/can't find the email?

    Eugene: Just chat back in?

    Rojan: Yes please Eugene.

Eugene: Thanks Rojan. I appreciate the help.

Rojan: Rest assured that this has been noted and was already forwarded. Xbox One Controller Drifting Up :)

Rojan: Would there be anything else that I may help you with for today?

Eugene: I think that's all. Thanks for your help.

Rojan: Lovely! Thanks for being cool all throughout. I’m glad that we have everything resolved for today.

    --------------------------------

Still waiting for that email almost a week later. Of course, that's where we get into the contradiction that is MS Support or Warranty communication.

After this chat, I called the MS store. I spoke to someone on the phone Thursday evening last week and asked about the MS Complete service. My thought was that if I could get this as an exception, I could then easily submit my warranty claim for the controller
and also have the extended coverage for any replacement controller I got. The employee on the phone gave me the most logical explanation I've gotten from Microsoft regarding much of anything. He stated that MS Complete cannot be sold past 45 days, as the coverage
is insured/provided through a 3rd party and those are the terms of their coverage with that company. If they sell it outside that 45 day window, the company will not honor the terms of their business arrangement.

I then asked about the root issue, which was that I had a 7 month old Xbox console with a bum controller. I asked if I would be wasting my time bringing it in to them for evaluation and possible warranty replacement given the age and other factors. Essentially,
they could evaluate the state of the controller and come to the same conclusion as the rest of us: it's a hardware or design defect that occurred and was not the result of damage, abuse or external factors. He invited me to come in and said there was possible
    actions they could take here.

When I brought my controller in for an "Answer Desk" appointment, they looked over the controller and took it in back for a quick test. After verifying the issue, the tech explained that it was one they wouldn't have here and I should go through the online
service for replacement. I explained to him that I had come to the store because they wouldn't replace it under warranty, citing the terms of a 1 year warranty on the console, but a 90 day warranty on accessories. His response was precisely, "That doesn't
    even make sense!"

I asked if they would do a non-like for like replacement in-store. He said they could do that and allowed me to pick out a replacement from their stock, which they exchanged on the spot. I was out the door with a new controller (not the custom Advanced Warfare
one I originally had) and back in business.

While I am very satisfied with my experience through the store, I am wholly disappointed in the policy. Microsoft should amend their warranty status and options. At a minimum, Xbox One console purchasers should be assured of working designs for a full year
on everything in the box, as I believe that to be inherent to their merchantability under implied warranties. PS4 does not have this type of clause in their warranty, and MS should easily be able to match the same warranty status as they do. An Xbox controller
is a required technological piece of the entire system. If you're going to advertise "All in One", you should probably not jerk around with the warranty coverage of the pieces in the box.

Of course if your goal is to continue to erode market share, cause customer churn and invite legal action, by all means Microsoft, ignore this thread.

  6. Hey, I've done all of these steps and my controller is still drifting. How do I find out which edition of the controller I have and what are the options for replacement?

Hey Eugene, thats great info and MS policy and how they are dealing with this is the reason I am selling my X1 and going PS4. Ive been Xbox since the first one that came out and although i wasn't a fanboy I chose Xbox year after year even though they cost
more and PS has more exclusives. The main reason was I loved their controller 10x better that PS controllers. We shouldn't have to solder anything to keep a controller that costs as much as a game to keep working. Reduce your controller price to $20 -$30 or
replace these defective controllers for free!

    Xbox One Controller Drifting Up

Both of my controllers drift. I no longer even use my xbox to watch Netflix because I can't even get it to select the correct show. One on the right analog stick and one on the left analog stick. My xbox 360 controllers never had this serious of a problem
for nearly 7 years. This is absurd. I'm not going to spend 130 dollars plus tax to get two new controllers. I will gladly return my xbox one controllers and get some cash for parts about 25 dollars each, return my xbox one, and the games I no longer play,
and get myself a PS4 rather than get two new controllers which will probably break again. Fix this Xbox

  9. My COD advanced Warfare controller has the left stick drift problem. I think I bought mine November of 2014. Is this the new "red ring of death." Coming from a previous PS3 owner this is very concerning. Did I make a mistake switching to XBOX. Friends warned
me about XBOX quality and maybe they were right. What a waste of money of controller can't last a year. I don't want to buy a controller every year.

Simply put, me too. I'll have one of those messages Mister Quimby, that is, if it helps me. And I don't mean, helps you to helps me. Microsoft spends millions (or should do) on product testing and data collection, so sending me a message asking me to tell
you what you have already heard a million times is not what I regard as helping. If you can help and are actually willing to do so, please message me. If not, tell me to suck it up and buy a new one. I'd just appreciate the honesty for a change, you know?

  11. I had the same problem, and attempted the solution, but to no resolve. I take pride in my delicate care of hardware, especially my silky Xbox equipment, so a controller malfunction is not likely to have been caused by me. I guess maybe wear and tear? The
problem still happened on my brother's Xbox, so it's not anything software-side.

Not sure why Mr. Quimby is silent all of a sudden. Where is the professionalism of MS? Its obvious this is upsetting to many people and lifelong customers and not a peep from anyone. Dont corporations know that ignoring issues and letting things work themselves
out hasn't worked since the 80s? People have access to too much knowledge and know better. We don't pay over 30% of our incomes to technology to let people who get discounts and free stuff to tell us to do a hard reset knowing that he knows its a manufacturer
defect. Still working on selling my Xbox but guarantee it will be sold and ill finally jump ship to the Sony side when Ive been strictly Xbox since early 2000's.

So he is reading this thread. Nice how when I posted my last comment you weren't on the board, but after I posted it and checked back you magically appeared. Way to abuse your admin rights and change your timestamp to appear before my last post.
