XBOX One Controller Drift - almost unusable

I have an xbox one S with very light use (My wife and I are light casual users). A while ago I noticed upward drift with my left thumbstick. This has become pronounced enough that my controller is almost unusable. This is apparently a common quality issue
with these units (Search "Xbox controller drift").

My box is 2 years old, but I don't feel that this is a reasonable lifespan give the price of this unit. Is Microsoft working with customers on this?

    Kind Regards,

    Danny

    :)

Unless you purchased an extended warranty with the equipment it would look like you are out of warranty. Hardware does fail over time and 2 years is a decent period of time for a controller.

Since it is not under warranty you will have to replace the controller.

Why is Xbox Controller Quality so bad ?

For myself, I have owned a total of 2 Xbox 360 controllers and 1 Xbox One controller. Both of my 360 controllers developed stick drift, but they lasted a good long time, at least 4+ years. The Xbox One controller is now 4 years old, it hasn't developed stick
drift just yet, but I feel like its close.

To have a controller last just two weeks seems almost like a factory error or something, because that's too soon for it to break.

    Hi there kharrisma,

Thanks for the reply. In reference to your question, I would recommend to take a look at the manufacturer printed on the packaging. You will want it to say Microsoft.

    Hope this helps.

    Xbox 360 controller almost unusable.

    Hi {Parity},

Yeah, I believe I mentioned that in my first post in this thread. No, I've used only this one controller... had no reason to buy two of 'em, as I'm the only one who uses the thing.

I don't know anyone else who has one I can try (either on their box or mine)... they all have PS3's or PS4's or an Xbox One or something. No 360's.

I'm really thinking at this point that I should probably just pick up another one from Amazon or somebody, try that one, and if it isn't any better, then there's probably something wrong with the box, and I'll just return the controller as a "doesn't work"
    case.
