    Xbox One Controller doesn't work anymore (since Anniversary Update)


    Ever since the Anniversary Update Windows 10 my Xbox One Controller no longer functions in UWP-games such as' Forza: Apex' and 'Quantum Break’. In addition, the controller only works limited in other games (Steam, Origin, Uplay). For example, the right trigger
    no longer works in 'Rocket League (throttle) and some combinations don’t work in 'Deus Ex: Mankind Divided' (like holster weapon = X+LT).

    Previously, I used the wireless dongle to connect the Xbox One Controller with my computer. Now that does not work flawlessly. Also using a USB-cable to connect the controller has no positive effect; the above problem persists.

    I read somewhere on the internet that Microsoft has made an adjustment to the 'XInpunt API. This driver is responsible for the control and communication between peripherals (such as game controllers) and Windows. The cause of the problem seems to be this
    adjustment (it’s likely).

    Various (possible) solutions I tried, but all in vain:

    - Remove hardware, uninstall drivers;

    - Windows 10 automatically install the new drivers for the dongle and controller;

    - Installing old (XInput) drivers (6.3.9600);

    - Use the 'Xbox Accessories application "to update the firmware of the controller. However, this app does not recognize the controller, in spite of the fact that it’s really connected (via dongle or cable)!

    None of the above works, and it begins to get frustrating, because I have € 75, - worth of equipment (controller + dongle) and it does not work!

    Hopefully Microsoft will soon present a solution or maybe someone can help me.

    Have you tried using a different USB cable?

    That's the only known working solution right now. I couldn't find myself a Xbox One console either.

    Alternatively, someone rolled back windows 10 anniversary update and got his Elite controller working. I'm not sure if that's a safe move as the anniversary update rollback may end up breaking your W10.

    Xbox Accesories works pre-anniversary update....you can revert back no problem and it works. BUT HORIZON 3 DOESN'T WORK

    the only way to fix this is to connect your controller to an xbox console or rollback the OS to a build prior to the anniversary update. The issue is caused by they anniversary update which causes the xbox accessories app to corrupt the controller firmware.
    Spent hours back n forth with microsoft chat support who were absolutely useless, if like me you udont own a console, find one at a local retailer or friend etc, as soon as you connect the controller to console it will automatically update and work fine from
