    Xbox One controller disconnects when headset is attached


    I used my headset for the first time today, I have had my xbox for just under 2 weeks.

    It was all working perfectly then mid game suddenly my controller disconnects so naturally I go and replace the batteries. After putting in brand new batteries the controller isn't turning on (not even flashing).

    I unplugged the headset and it works again, I changed the batteries back to the old ones and again it works without the headset but as soon as I plug it back in, it disconnects immediately.

    What seems weird about this to me is that it was working in the first place then suddenly stopped.

    Considering this is the first use of the headset and the Xbox is pretty much brand new I'm pretty disappointed. Any ideas on a fix?

    Notes:

    1. I have tried new batteries

    2. I have fully reset the console (holding power button for 10 seconds)

    3. (as far as I know) my Xbox is fully updated both system and controller

    Hey Toler567! Are there any accessories attached to the controller like a headset? Try out the steps on the "Xbox One Wireless
    Controller disconnects or can't connect    " page and see if they help you get that controller connected. If you continue to have issues you may need to get the controller serviced. Post back and let us know how it goes!

    Sorry to hear about the controller issues! Is this issue happening with the Xbox One Stereo Headset that came with the console, or are you using a 3rd part headset with the Stereo Headset Adapter? If you are using a 3rd party headset, what is the brand and
    model of the headset? That will help us a lot! Xbox One controller disconnects when headset is attached :)

    Turn off and disconnect all controllers from the Xbox 360 and disconnect the wireless headsets from the controllers.

    Connect the wireless headset to the Xbox 360 using the USB cable. Turn on the wireless headset.

    Sync the headset to quadrant 1 by pressing the "Connect" button on the on the Xbox 360. Then press the "Connect" button on the wireless headset for two seconds. Do not continue to press the "Connect" button on the wireless headset, as this will change the
    quadrant to which it is connected. If the headset now works without the controllers attached, the problem must be with one of your controllers. If the headset still does not work, then the problem is with the headset.

    Sorry to hear you're having issues with your controller.

    • Does your controller turn on when you do not have the headset attached?
    • Am I correct that your controller is turning off when you attach the headset?
      • What type of headset are you using?
      • Are you able to disconnect the headset and turn the controller back on?
    • I assume you're using a wireless Xbox 360 controller, right?

    In regards to your question, there is a 90 day warranty on Xbox 360 accessories.

    You may need to look into getting a new controller, but if you're able to try your headset with a different controller or try your controller with a different headset, that will help us narrow down where the error is.

    Please let us know and we'll go from there.
