Xbox one controller disconnects on it's own

Hello,

Ever since updating the contoller firmware to the latest available (can update with version later). The controller will disconnect from xbox on it's own while using it during destiny. It can do it at different intervals, no set pattern. When I'm using the
default headset that came with the xbox it seems to be do it more than without.

Before it disconnects, I have noticed that the game will stop responding and can cause the character to do a 180% or 360% turn... It looks like ive lagged but haven't. I have also noticed that i loss party char via the controller. it will pop up on screen
that the controller has disconnected, and it will reconnect. Once it reconnects on its own, i still have party chat going via the tv. To get party chat back via the controller I have to turn it off and back on again. Very annoying.

Also, I have plug and play kit, fully charged and have tested with batteries. still the same.

I do have another controller with an older firmware on it. It doesn't do this that often but does disconnect and reconnect, with party chat coming back to the controller.

Not sure what MS has broken, but it needs to be fixed. Any ideas anyone?

Battery pack losing contact because of the rumble motors is the most likely reason. You should notice a small piece of plastic protruding out of the controller into the battery case. This closes a contact on the normal battery packs and it's that contact
point that might need mild cleaning, or a small piece of paper to put even more pressure on that contact. On the rechargeable packs the contacts might need some simple cleaning and a rubber eraser works well enough for cleaning copper contacts.

anyone else have their controller just out of nowhere just disconnect? i thought maybe it needed new batteries but that didnt stop it

The first thing to try would be a power cycle of the console itself:

support.xbox.com/.../power-cycle-console

Do that and let us know how you get on.

I have done that a few times, plus fully reset the xbox one back to factory defaults twice..

I have tried various options on that guide you have sent me with no luck..

The problem started after the xbox updated to the latest layout.. After it tried to update the xbox 10 times.. it was an annoying wait for it to complete.

I'm part of the preview programe as well, but I have the latest stable installed i do believe.

So i believe that its either software causing but why was it fixed when i fully reset the xbox (and kept saves).. or its a hardware issue.

 

Anyone have any ideas? This is still happening and it's really getting on my nerves!

Since it still disconnects from the console, maybe try your controller on your friend's xbox one and let me know if it still happens
