Xbox One Controller Disconnects And Reconnects Constantly To My Samsung Tablet (SM-T280)

As you've likely guessed, it's a bit of a hard issue to diagnose. If the Xbox controller doesn't disconnect from the PC via Bluetooth then it's probably safe to assume that the controller is fine and the issue might be with your tablet. Hard to tell.

Do you play this game on the tablet in the same location as you would on the PC? Bluetooth connections can receive interference from other wireless devices in your home and this can cause disconnection issues.

Owning an Xbox would make no difference for the purpose of testing as controllers don't connect via BT on the console, they use Wi-Fi Direct. Which means that the one method could work fine, but the other (BT) could still have issues if there were a fault.

is anyone having issues where the controllers are constantly disconnecting from the xbox one and then won't reconnect? We got this same console and the controllers disconnect every few days and to get them to reconnect we have to unplug the xbox for 20
seconds then reconnect it. using the connect buttons on the controller/console does nothing for some reason (no issues like this on the regular xbox one we have). very disappointing.

Thanks for getting back to me - tried it with 2 different devices, a Samsung tablet and a Samsung smartphone, both on Android 11. Also, when I play/stream a game, it doesn't disconnect me, only when I exit and want to switch to another one after (let's say) about 15min, I can't reconnect unless I change the IP address again.

They should be powered over USB, so no batteries/battery pack is required.

Do you have another USB cable you can try?

I'm wondering if there's an issue with your USB cable, so when you thought you were using a controller wired, you were actually still using it wirelessly due to the cable not working. If it is that, then I think it's possibly a faulty Wi-Fi card in the console that's causing your problems, given that you've tried multiple controllers and you have the same issue with all of them.

If you still have the same issues when trying other USB cables, then I'm at a loss for what might be causing it. Likewise if you get a controller to work wired without batteries in it, but it still intermittently disconnects. In those instances, you'd need to get it serviced, either by MS or a third party repair place.
