  1. Xbox One controller disconnects after plugging in headphones to 3.5mm jack

Whenever I try plugging in any headphones to the 3.5mm jack on the bottom of the controller, it disconnects from the wireless adapter after ten to twenty seconds. It will not reconnect until I unplug the headphones and cycle the wireless adapter by unplugging
it and plugging it back in. All of my drivers are up to date and I have the latest controller firmware. I am able to use headphones with the controller when it is plugged in via USB, but I find it really annoying that I can't use the headphone jack and the
wireless adapter at the same time. Is there any way to fix this?

    Xbox one controller model: 1697

    Firmware version: 2.3.2385.0

Wireless adapter for windows model: 1713

    Windows 10 home

  2. Question about the headset

I don't have an XBO. I was just curious is the headset plug a regular 3.5mm (regular headphones) jack or is it smaller? Also can you just plug regular headphones into the controller & get the game audio?

  3. Can I use a standard pair of headphones with a y splitter.

I have a set of headphones which have a 3.5mm jack for audio and a separate 3.5mm jack for the mic. I have the latest xbox one controller with the 3.5mm jack. Can I simply just buy a y splitter for this to work. I understand the y splitter may need to be

  5. UPDATE:

After some experimenting, I found that the only thing that works is a headset with a TRRS (tip ring ring sleeve) plug. However, this only works if I don't set the USB audio out as the default, then switch it over after about 30 seconds. Anything with a
TRS plug causes my controller to instantly crash... This makes no sense since I can use my normal headphones when the controller is tethered via USB without any problems.

I am guessing that I'm the only one with this issue since I have spent the better part of two days looking for a solution. As far as I can tell, there isn't one. This is a problem that Microsoft really needs to look into.

Oh. After I was able to somewhat get the controller to work with headphones, the drivers freaked out and my pc crashed about 45 seconds later...With that, I give up. Looks like I'm sticking with the tethered connection for the foreseeable future.

Another note on the 3.5 stereo to 3.5 stereo male to male cord...

Make sure that the stereo jack on the TV is the same size as the stereo jack on your headphone "in-line" volume controller. Some headphones use a 2.5mm instead of a 3.5mm. The TV is most likely the 3.5mm size.

Compare the one plugged into the TV with the one plugged into you headset "in-line" controller. If they are the same, you will have no trouble finding a 3.5 to a 3.5 (The jack on the Xbox One controller chat converter is 3.5mm also).

If one is thinner than the other, you will have to find a 3.5mm stereo male jack to a 2.5mm stereo male jack. Where I live, the only place I found one was online (eBay is where I got one).

I can hear sound with earphones

Last time i experienced this it was the controllers 3.5mm headphone jack playing up. Do you regularly connect and disconnect your headphones?

Use Bluetooth Dongle To Connect BT Keyboards and Mouses

No, this isn't supported. You could look for a Bluetooth headset option that plugs into an audio port of the Xbox and then sends the signal to BT headphones, or plug a pair of headphones into the 3.5mm jack on a paired controller.
