    Xbox one controller disconnecting issue

Has the common Xbox one controller disconnecting issue been resolved yet?

The one seemingly caused by a preview update long ago and never recognised or fixed by Microsoft?

    The problem again:

Randomly disconnecting/reconnecting or locked out so you have to remove batteries and insert again.

Intermittently, any game, any time, once a day or 50 times a day.

I still have this issue, and have tried:

    Turn off/on

    Complete power down/on

    Factory reset

    3 Different controllers

Turning off ALL external WiFi/wireless sources in my home

Moving the console in the room/different room

    Updating the console/controllers

    Lots of different batteries/packs

    Re-syncing

    Accessories/no accessories

    :)

  2. I already returned one Xbox One now the replacement is having the same issue

I got a day one console, and returned it because of controller disconnecting continuously. My new xbox one not only has the controller disconnecting issue, but this blank screen issue that you are describing as well. Definitely not an HDMI issue. Never
happened once with the previous xbox. This is ridiculous. One of my friends is having the same blank screen problem as well.

    Xbox one controller disconnecting issue

Hey Nixher! Thanks for posting today.

That's great that you tried multiple troubleshooting steps already! We appreciate that. I can definitely understand the confusion after trying all of that and the issue seems to not go away.

By any chance are you still enrolled in the
    Xbox Insider Program
    ?

One thing I noticed you hadn't tried is possibly trying to connect your controllers to another Xbox and see if they don't disconnect.

Basically narrowing the problem down to either a preview update if you are still enrolled, or possibly a software issue with the Xbox's signal transmitter for the wireless controllers.

Also, have you performed a full
    powercycle?
Letting the power supply reset for a few minutes is always a good thing. Also, if the Xbox Is plugged into a surge protector or inverter, we suggest you plug directly into the nearest wall socket.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for such a fast reply, really appreciate it.

Yes I'm still in xbox insider programme thing, not sure how to leave, yeah forgot to mention I've obviously tried full power cycle which is what I meant by power down/on.

It used to be plugged into a surge protector but I plugged straight in wall and no different.

To be honest I've only posted today because my partner is playing the xbox now and sick of the controllers disconnecting, I gave up playing xbox because of it. Microsoft have been no use whatsoever.

I've had this problem for couple of years now, probably just buy a PS5 when it comes out now.

    Hi Nixher!

Ok well I would suggest leaving the Xbox Update Preview program. Here's how:

How to leave the Xbox One update preview program

Whether you’re selling or giving your Xbox away, or just don’t want to participate anymore, you should remove it from the update preview program. If you’ve already sold or gifted your Xbox, you can launch the Xbox Insider Hub on another console or a Windows
10 PC and follow these same directions.

    1. Launch the Xbox Insider Hub on your Xbox One or a Windows 10 PC.
    2. On the main landing page, select Settings.
    3. Select Manage devices and choose the one you want to remove from the program.
    4. Select Done.

Leaving the Xbox One Update Preview is just as easy as joining it. You can remove yourself from the Xbox One Update Preview by following these steps:

    1. Launch the Xbox Insider Hub on your Xbox One console.
    2. On the main landing page, select Insider content.
    3. Under System, select Xbox One Update Preview.
    4. Select Join or Manage.
    5. At the very bottom select Unenroll.

Once you leave the program, I suggest doing a soft factory reset to download the live update.

If you'd like to go over warranty details and service options I would suggest contacting
    Xbox Customer Support

    Hope this helps.

By suggesting I follow this step, are you therefore saying that being in the xbox insider programme is a possible cause for controller disconnection?

  8. Xbox one controller disconnecting issue

I'm sorry, but what I get from your response is that Microsoft is so big that it doesn't care if it loses xbox customers. Nor does it care about its customers enough to fix the problem. That is very disappointing.

You are correct, watch as MS don't reply anymore, and lock the thread.

    Hey Nixher,

Yes that is what I'm saying. When you sign up for the Xbox Insider Program, it is possible the update previews can cause some bugs or other issues and you can either report the problem or leave the program. You can find more information about the program
and the agreement you accept when joining the program with these two links:

If that's not the case then, your console would need to get repaired. You can contact
Xbox Customer Support to go over warranty details and service options with you.

    Have a good day

I've left the insiders programme and reset the xbox, no difference at all.

Would replacing the WiFi board be a possible fix?

  12. Hi Nixher,

If it does still show the account is in the preview program, then try to report this problem using the Xbox
Insider Hub app. That would allow our Preview Program Team to investigate it further:

    1. On your console, install the
      Xbox
      Insider Hub
      app (if you don’t already
      have it).
    2. Hold down the
      Xboxbutton on the controller.
    3. On the power menu, select
      Report a problem.

Describe the problem in detail, including
when it happened, if you saw any specific error codes or messages, and if you were using any specific games, software, hardware, or accessories when you encountered the problem.

It is possible to see if a repair/fulfillment is possible for the console as well. Check our the following
    link:
Getting your Xbox console or Kinect sensor serviced

    I hope this helps ^‿^

    Xbox one controller disconnecting issue

I've read too many posts that have been closed by MS about this controller disconnection issue.

All saying it happens on all controllers, one day console was fine, the next disconnections, Microsoft requesting people to send in for repair but unable to fix. Very common, happening on xbox one, S, x, old controllers, new style, elite posts always closed,
    never resolved, bit odd.

Needs to be properly addressed by Microsoft, can't have ambassadors etc keep coming on these help sections throwing out generic advise for a more complex and widespread problem.

If it's a known fault we should be told, so people can repair their own consoles if it's the WiFi board.

    Hello Nixher

Yes it true we have them repaired due to controllers go bad. At times after updates the software can cause issues and if unable to update properly and that , then they will need a repair. I have two controllers that don't work with my headsets and a third
does. It all happened after an update. They are older controllers though. The warranty on controllers is 90 days. If your controller is still not functioning after all the troubleshooting then I recommend a repair.

Also I would like you try these three controllers on a friend or family console if they connect it could be your console that needs the repair.

When did you opt out of the preview program? It takes about a week to fully be out.

    Hope this helps

    Thanks

    Brad

From someone within Microsoft themselves, software updates are known to cause controller disconnection issues that can only be repaired by paying Microsoft to repair it. Wow. Great customer support there guys.
