Xbox One Controller: D-PAD - 4 or 8 position?

Hello.

I’ve been interested for several months, and everyone answers differently, who speaks 4 positions, who speaks 8 positions.

Please tell me, at the cross (D-PAD) 4 or 8 positions?

I go classic 4 ways only, if I need 8 positions I better get an arcade controller

The elite controller has a wheel piece that u can put in the d pad slot which make 8 direction more accurate

Hi there,

based on by looking at the controller the D pad has for positions, Up, Down, Left and Right.

But, when you are playing a game like Mortal Kombat pressing both Down and Left will be considered a seperate position (at least that is my experience)

Also the Elite controller has the option to replace the standard D-Pad to a different one to more easily be able to do the Down-Left, Down-Right, Up-Left adn Up-Right positions

Yes, you can use the diagonal angles on the d-pad in between the basic up, down, left and right to give you 8 inputs. I find it a bit hard to use that way though so I almost never do this in games. I only use the d-pad for the 4 basic directions. Going
in the diagonal positions is so much easier with one of the joysticks, if you can do it that way.
