Xbox one controller connected but buttons don't work

Hi all,

On the oil rig where i work at we have an Xbox for a while but all the controllers and games got stolen. so i bought 2 new controllers and some games for the crew. now I've connected these 2 new controllers to the Xbox but i can't do anything.

I've tried wireless and wired, and i got a full 1 second of controlling the xbox with 1 of them.

because we have satellite internet on the oil rig the Xbox hasn't been updated for quite a while and will be really difficult to do so because of the satellite internet (which is limited) and if the controllers don't work it will make it a bit more difficult
as well to set it up.

Thanks for your post. I understand you're experiencing an issue with the Xbox One console not maintaining a connection to your controllers. To troubleshoot this, try

Power Cycling the console.

HI XBF,

Thank you for your quick reply, however i did try to power cycle on both ways, 10 second xbox logo and 10 seconds with the power cable, but the fault was still there.
