  1. Xbox One controller causing fps drop/slowdown

I recently installed a new computer (Asus Z170 Hero VIII, Intel 6600K, 16gb ram, win10). When using my (wired) xbox one controller, I notice framedrops in all games. When I unplug the controller and use either mouse/keyboard or my old Xbox360 wireless controller,
no slowdowns. So there's something wrong with either drivers/usb drivers. I tried different usb ports but nothing seems to help. Any idea what's causing this? I do not have an Xbox One console so cannot update the firmware of the controller if that's the solution.

    :)

xbox one controller severe issues with game Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Severe slowdown issues reported with new XBox One Bluetooth controller, Windows 10 AU (14393.693), and the game on Steam: "Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning". Game fps drops down from vysnc'ed 60fps to 10fps when the XBox One Bluetooth controller is on. In the
exact moment it goes in idle timeout, the game returns to 60 fps vsync'ed.

This has been reproduced by a lot of users on Steam forum: Xbox One Controller Problems :: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning™ General Discussions and is clearly an XBox One BT controller vs Windows 10 AU issue.

The XBox One controller firmware has been fully updated with the XBox Accessories app on 13-Feb-2017

    Repro steps:

    1) connect the XBox One controller to Windows 10 via BT

    2) let the controller go in standby sleep mode (lights off)

    3) now wake up the controller and run Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, Steam version

...you'll be able to reproduce the drastic fps drop.

    Xbox One FPS drop ?

I fix the problem for myself. I called Ubisoft tech support because I haven't been able to login to Uplay via the main menu of the game. I would always get a error message saying it couldn't connect to the Ubisoft servers. It turns out that there wasn't
a email address attached to my Uplay account. Once they fixed the problem the game plays smooth now.

Since I had them on the phone I mentioned the stuttering problem and he said it could very well be because of Uplay. He also said it wouldn't hurt to uninstall the game & DLC and re-install them.

To uninstall the game go to game & apps find the game and press what use to be the start button. you should see a option to uninstall the game. Select that and you will be asked if you want to uninstall just the game or the game and all DLC.

Here's the number to Ubisoft tech support. (919) 460-9778

    Hope that helps.

Some questions that would help us diagnose issues..

Which games are experiencing the frame drop?

What settings are they configured with?

How much of an effect do you believe is occurring say on a percentage basis?

    Since update, slow cold starts?

I have noticed considerable slowdown from boot time to some games stuttering and the new controller updates seam to cause more and more audio glitches and controller lag than before.
