Xbox One Controller can't select channels

So I've set up my cable box and TV through OneGuide and everything seems to be working right. I can see the picture and it looks clear. The programming and channels all show up correctly in the OneGuide. However, when I want to select a show to watch with
the Xbox One Controller, it does not work. Microsoft's support guide says:

1. With OneGuide open, use the left stick to move up and down the channel list or left and right through shows. This is similar to using the directional arrows on your remote control.
   
2. When you find a show you want to watch, highlight the show (instead of the channel) and press the
   A button on your controller

Highlighting the show and pressing the A button just closes the guide, and I remain on the same channel I started at. Again everything else seems to be working, but I cannot select the channel. Please help!

Channels are incorrect

The best way to report the incorrect channels in the OneGuide troubleshooting section in your Xbox One settings.

• Press the Menu button on your Xbox One controller and select 'Settings'.
• In the Settings menu, select 'TV & OneGuide'.
• Select 'Troubleshooting'.
• From here select 'Report a OneGuide problem' and select 'Wrong channel'.

This will report the error directly to the proper folks.

Sorry to hear about the missing channels. The best way to report missing channels is to report them on the Xbox One itself. To do so, follow the steps below:

• Press the menu button on your Xbox One controller and select Settings.
• From the Setting menu, select TV & OneGuide.
• From here, select Troubleshooting and 'Report a OneGuide problem'.
• In the drop down menu, select Missing channel and follow the steps.

This will reach the proper folks directly!

 

I'm having the same problem now after the update, I do not own a Kinect, a friend said that could be the problem but I never had one and it worked just fine. And even if my controller died I could still change the channel with the Xbox app on my phone but
now that seems to do nothing as well, a little disappointing since I have to now find the remote for this cable box. The whole point if setting this up is to not use that
