Xbox One controller battery choices

The great thing about this new Play&Charge is that you can charge whilst the Xbox is off. So if you're not a fan of wired gaming, just connect it at the end of your session.

The Amazon reviews of the Play and Charge kit are not good. It sounds like the USB port on the controller gets a bit flakey after you use it enough. That leans me towards the NiMH AAs so that I don't stress out that port.

I use the Nyko 2 controller charging station. I could not tell you how long they can go without charging since I place them on the base when I am done. link:

I use the play and charge kit - the cord is plugged into the console's side USB slot at all times, so all I have to do is reach over and plug it into the controller.

My only concern with the NiMh AAs is that Microsoft says not to use them, but not why. (Although I think they approved them in the "licensed" Energizer product. I might just do the Play and Charge, but I do wish there was an external charger for it. (Then
again, it makes it no different from the Sony controllers.)

I use rechargables. I have 4 so I can play while the other 2 are charging. They give me a good amount of play time too.

in less than two weeks. That's what they're covering themselves against, people who claim the controller is bad on batteries when in fact it's the batteries that are awful.

I use standard rechargeables too. I have Energizer NiMH batteries and I cannot imagine any reason MS would say not to use them other than "Don't use rechargeables, buy our play 'n charge kit!". But I have used these for years and I love them. Just keep a
charged set on the table and when it's time, its a 5 second switch. I still wish it didn't take 10 seconds from when you push the power button to when you can play again. It takes the controller longer to reconnect than it does to switch the batteries!

I use Engergizer rechargeable batteries the 2300Mh and 2450Mh ones for both my Xbox 360 and Xbox 1 controller. It saves wasting money on new single-use batteries. I also own an Energizer 15 minute battery charger which can fully charge 2x AA/AAA batteries
in 15 minutes or 4x AA/AAA batteries in 30 minutes (the charger is black). I also use Engerizer rechargeable batteries for my Turtle Beach Dolby surround headset as well. These devices take quite a bit of muscle to power and this solution works well for me.
Batteries last about 10 hours for my Turtle beach headset and about 16 hours for the controller. Love it!
