    Xbox One controller audio jack

Edit: I solved this issue. It was something simple I didn't even think to check. I had the headset chat mixer all the way to the right. During a game session I was trying to correct audio and put it all on the voice chat side not understanding its purpose.

Hi, if you're taking the time to read this, thank you. Today when I was playing a game with a friend, the game audio abruptly cut out. I could still hear him but he couldn't hear me, then the party chat audio stopped working as well. Since then I have tried
several things to troubleshoot the problem with no success.

I started by plugging in several different aux cords in the jack to make sure it wasn't my headset (it's been acting up recently). I tried my V-Moda headphones with two cords, and my Turtlebeach PX24 headset with the control box cord, the one that's failing,
and the cord that comes directly from the headset, which has always worked fine. Nothing. After that I opened up my controller and replaced the current jack with a spare one I bought awhile ago. This new jack acknowledged that I had a cord plugged in, (the
headset audio settings in the system tab were avaliable), but all I could hear was some low static, that kind of audio input noise you get when you're not playing anything. I then tried my spare controller and got the same results, a quiet static, almost a
white noise. This seems to be an indication that the jack is active, but for whatever reason it's not receiving any audio. I know all my aux cords and the Turtlebeach headset works because I tested everything with my phone jack. From here I just kept switching
jacks between controllers, trying the different aux cords and headsets I have. I even resynced both controllers a few times. Always the same thing, an almost silent buzzing noise, and the system indication that a cord is plugged in. The exception is the jack
that was in the controller when it stopped working. It gives no noise and doesn't acknowledge a cable is plugged in. I'm assuming that one is dead.

From here I restarted my Xbox using the controller, powered it off an on using the controller, and did a hard reset by pulling the power cable; still nothing. Currently I have the spare jack in the spare controller and the spare controller jack in my primary
controller, I don't know what to do. I can't find any similar forum posts and none of the DIY troubleshooting help sections have suggestions I didn't try myself. I would buy a new controller but since I can't diagnose what the problem is, I don't know if it
would be the same way. I would appreciate any advice. To list everything I've tried: I've unplugged re-plugged every cord I have, made sure by headset audio was not muted, resynced both controllers a couple times, reset, powered on and off, and hard reset
the console (pulling the power cable), & tested three different audio jacks in two separate controllers.

Edit: 11:30PM: I tried to play a game with that same friend and could still use party chat, despite not being able to hear system or game audio. Due to the issues with my headset cord, I could only get audio in the right ear. After a while, the headset finally
died, this occurring after a year of slow deterioration. I had almost an identical issue a couple weeks back but it was only with the headset and all I had to do was bend the cord a particular way and tape it in place. My V-Modas were working then. I don't
know if I need to buy a new controller along with a headset or if this is just some technical issue. Other than that development, the status is still the same, a quiet static, the kind you get with no audio playing and an otherwise functional controller &
    console.

    :)

Are Xbox Design Lab controllers compatible with Windows 10?

they are the same as the standard xbox one s controllers, so with pc you can use via bluetooth(audio through headphone jack not supported)

or wired(supports audio via headphone jack)

My headset cuts out and only works with one controller

    Hey Joe,

When it comes to headset troubleshooting there are a number of things to try to narrow down the issue to the headset or the controller. Does your headset connecting using an audio jack or through a headset adapter?

With the introduction of the 3.5 mm headphone jack on the Xbox controllers, you are able to virtually connect mostly any headset but some may not be compatible due to the

    audio jack standards
    .

If the headset cuts out periodically then it may be due to the audio jack not being the right standard or the audio jack port in the controller is not functioning properly.

To troubleshoot your Xbox I recommend to
    power cycle
    the unit.

    Razer nari connection

The only way to connect the headset to the Xbox One, is with the audio cable that is supplied with it. Connect the cable to the headset then the controller 3.5 mm jack socket. If your controller does not have the jack socket, then you will need the Microsoft
headset audio adapter, which you connect to the controller, then connect the headset to the adapter.

The jack of the Xbox controller

    Hey there Nic,

Was this part of a Console Bundle? Also when was this purchased? As mentioned in "Xbox One controller and headset compatibility"

"As of June 2015, new Xbox One Wireless Controllers will include a 3.5-mm port so users can connect a compatible 3.5-mm audio jack directly to the controller."

If your controller does not have the 3.5-mm audio jack then it is possible that it is an older model.

    I hope this helps.

    Oh... controller woes....

I'll never go back to the 360 controllers. The One's controllers are far superior (The ones with the 3.5 audio jack anyway).
