Xbox one controller and skull candy SLYR headset

so I bought a skull candy slyr headset as a replacement headset from the cheap one you get when you buy the console, and it works perfectly with the controller I bought with the Xbox but now that the controller is old and is falling apart I bought a new
controller (had the old controller for about two years of constant play) and it seems that the headset won't turn on when connected to the controller bear in mind these are the new controllers that come with the Xbox one S or are similar as such. Not the day
one controllers that first Came out. Anyone have some ideas as to why the controllers and headset won't work? I think it's cause the headset is only compatable with older controllers which I hope isn't the case

mic issues

I have a skull candy headset for Xbox one, the headset works for the original controllers but not for a controller I bought later on. I believe it is a new Xbox one s controller. the mic also doesn't work on my girlfriends controllers which are also xbox
one s. but again I plug it back into my older xbox one controllers and it's fine. nothing is muted all the controllers are updated. and restarting the Xbox doesn't help

 

Microphone

I have had this issue for about two years now on xbox. I have had echo on internet in three different homes. I have tried different headsets and still it remained so I assumed it was my controller. I purchased a new one and it still remains. The only things
that stand out so far is that when I put party chat through headset and speakers, I end up hearing everyone two times. The real issue of echo is that others can hear themselves and my game when my head set volume is turned up high. Any ideas? I am currently
using a 3.5 mm Jack with Skull candy crushers on a new Xbox one controller.
