Xbox One Controller and Play & Charge Kit Are Not Turning On for My PC

Hi,

I have recently purchased a Xbox One controller + Wireless Adapter and a Play & Charger kit for my PC. I do not own a Xbox One console. This purchase was intended to let me enjoy my PC games.

My controller won't turn on when the charger kit is placed into the controller battery slot even though all devices are working fine. Please assist Microsoft or anyone else that has resolved this issue.

Trouble Shooting Process That I Took To Test My Devices

1) I placed two AA batteries into my Xbox One controller and the controller turned on when I pressed the home button on the controller , windows recognized it and I was able to use my controller while playing games.
Result = Controller Works, Wireless Adapter

2) I removed the AA batteries (left the battery slot empty), plugged my Xbox One controller into the USB port with the Xbox Charger cable. My controller turned on by itself, windows recognized it and I was able to use my controller while playing games while
directly plugged in without batteries. Result = Controller Works, Cable Works

3) While the controller is working and plugged in via the Xbox Charger Cable, I placed the rechargeable battery into the back slot, the Xbox Charger Cable is indicating a white LED light (an indicator telling me that the Rechargeable batter is no longer
needing a charge-up). I disconnect the Xbox Charger Cable, my Wireless Adapter recognized my controller, and I was able to play games via wireless with the the rechargeable battery.
Result = Controller Works, Rechargeable Battery Works, Wireless Adapter Works.

The Problem

After I have finished playing my games, I hold the home button down on the controller for 5-10 seconds, my Xbox One controller turns off.

4) The controller is now off, it has the rechargeable battery pack from the Play & Charge Kit (battery fully charged). Once I try to click the home button on the controller to turn it on, it won't turn on. I hold the home button on the controller
for 5-10 seconds, but still not luck.

5) I try to plug in the controller via the Xbox Charger cable into the PC USB slot (while the rechargeable battery is in the battery slot), the controller doesn't turn on and it wont let me power it on even if I hold the home button for 5-10 seconds or even
if i click it once. It would only work if I followed steps 2) and 3) from above.

My Attempt to Fix

6) I downloaded the Xbox Accessories application via windows 10 store and I updated my controller (firmware is now 2.3.2385.0). I still couldn't turn on my controller unless I followed the steps 2) and 3) from above.

Help

How do I get this controller to turn on without having to following steps 2) and 3) every single time I want to play games on my PC. The controller works, the Rechargeable battery works (and is fully charged), the wireless adapter works, the controller is
updated. It still doesn't want to turn on for some reason even though all devices work. I am sure a lot of you can agree that this is a huge inconvenience. Can I provide you with any additional information in order for you to help me. How can I fix
this?

Play and charge kit wont connect controller to pc

So today i bought a xbox one controller and a "play and charge kit" to play games on my pc (my old xbox 360 controller broke) and for some reason the controller wont connect to my pc, when im using the charger. However it does work with my phone charger.
The problem is that my phone charger isnt long enough. The controller is charging with the regular charger though, but isnt connected like with the phone charger.

So my question is: Why dont the regular "play and charge kit" charger work?

 

How do I use the Play & Charge Kit to charge my controller with my PC and still control my Xbox One?

I bought the Play & Charge Kit because I am handicapped and the Xbox and TV are on the other side of the room. I want to charge it by plugging it into a USB slot on my PC, however, when I do that, it stops controlling my Xbox One. When I push the Power
button on the controller, it loads Steam instead. Xbox Customer Service doesn't seem to understand my issue and googling it brings up the opposite of what I want to do, so let me spell it out:

I WANT TO CHARGE MY XBOX ONE CONTROLLER VIA THE PC USB SLOT WITHOUT IT TURNING INTO A PC CONTROLLER INSTEAD OF AN XBOX ONE CONTROLLER!!!

 

Is there a diagnostic tool that will test my controller's circuits or hardware? Maybe that might show something.

Sorry to hear about the controller troubles you're experiencing! When your controller is unplugged does the light on the controller flash at all or does it remain off? It almost sounds like the batteries aren't holding a charge and may require a replacement.

When i unplug the controller, the controller is white and is turned on. It successfully pairs with the wireless adapter.
