Xbox One Controller Adapter disconnecting frequently

My controller adapter for Windows is frequently disconnecting from my controllers. It is within ideal range of my controllers, not obscured by anything, and is away from any metal surfaces. The only fix that I have found so far is to disconnect it from my
pc and reconnect it. I am running Windows 7 and my controllers are fully updated.

Controller won't connect to adapter

So I use controller support for some steam games and I use my controller with an adapter plugged in to the PC. It has been working for a long time now it has been disconnecting frequently. So I looked through the support pages and said I should use a USB
extender. I tried that it didn't work. So I just used a spare controller I had and that doesn't disconnect frequently. What was wrong with the first controller I used and if possible how do I fix that problem?

Frequently Disconnecting Controller

Hi, are the batteries good ? Try removing the batteries and give the connectors in the controller a clean, sometimes they can become dirty and cause a bad connection, very gently pull the spring connector out a little to give a good snug fit for the batteries.

Glad to know no one ever bothered to help. I updated to Windows 10 and the issue is still happening.

If your Xbox one Controller doesn't work or gets disconnected after you plug in your Stereo Headset Adapter, unplug your adapter,
and then update your controller without the adapter. After the controller is updated, insert your Stereo Headset Adapter back into the controller.
