XBOX ONE CONTROL UPDATE "FAILED" AND BRICKED MY CONTROL!

My control Update failed and left my control unable to power up, I went through tons of trouble shooting with the live support team, noth worked, they came to the conclusion I need to be issued a replacement control but said ONLY the "Xbox preview support
Team" can issue said controller as I'm registered to the preview program. I was instructed to contact them via this forum or Twitter, I tried by Twitter but was told to come here as Twitter was not the correct team, I am angry and confused as to why I'm on
a FORUM with my problems, and not talking direct to an AGENT??? I am left unable to play my console due to YOUR software update... Angry is an understatment..

XBOX ONE = TOTAL LACK OF CONTROL

The
only difference between that and a 4GB console is that the 4GB console's USB MU is internally mounted in a place you can't get to it. Other than that, they're functionally equivalent.

This is solved when I plug in the USB, however, the USB quickly overheats.

USB Flash Drive should not overheat. It may become warm, but a decent flash drive won't melt.I store my profile and all of my save games on a USB flash drive. It's in the console the whole time I'm playing a game. It's never overheated.

Is there any
suggestions of what I can do to get the update to work?

If it was me, I'd pick up a quality USB flash drive to use until March. If Microsoft sticks to the same pattern as the past two years, they'll have a sale on 320GB HDDs in March-April.

I don't want to rain on your parade any further then it already has but you were pawned off again. There is no Support here in these Forums. For the most part it's just us Gamers who still post in a dead forum.

Similar problem guys.

For months I have had a failing usb cable from the play and charge kit - Controller has to be held or placed at a certain angle for the orange light to stay on for me.

First controller update was successful.

Second controller update failed as the cable completely stopped working, I can't get the charge light to come on at all, even when used on the controller which was updated successfully, the other controller has been bricked by the failed update.

Just used xbox accesories in windows 10 anniversary to update my xbox one controller and now is bricked. This is *** ridiculous.

Exactly same problem with you guys. My brand new Xbox Elite Controller failed to update twice and now it kind of "brick". These are the exact descriptions for those who might concern:

- First time plugin ever, the controller vibrated a little and the XBox Accessories saw my controller but failed to update.

- Second time, unpluged and pluged in as the app tell me to, the controller still vibrate a little, the app saw my controller, still failed to update, although the process bar did progress further than first time.

- Third time unpluged and pluged in, no vibrate this time and the app did not recognise my controller. Symptoms exactly like "MY Ryunam".

After digging through countless posts about kind of similar problems with XBox One Controller (not Elite). I found one potential solution is that I will need an XBox One Console, plug my controller to it and hope it will continue to perform the update correctly.
Problem is I do not have an XBox One Console so I cannot tell if this work or not.

Hi

Please try the steps below and hopefully you will be able to get your controller working again. Also to eliminate possible issues with the USB lead please have a second lead available to try and also try using an alternate USB port on the console

1. Remove any batteries from the controller

2. Power down the console by holding the power button for 5-10 seconds

3. Unplug the power supply from the console and wall outlet and leave everything unplugged for 1 minute

4. Plug the power supply back in (leave controller unplugged for now) and wait for console to boot

5. Once on the Home screen, plug controller in via USB and leave it alone for 2 minutes

6. Run controller update again (even if option is greyed out, attempt to select it and update again)

Try removing all power from the controller (unplug from console and remove batteries) for 5 minutes. Then put in fresh batteries to determine if the problem is resolved. Good Luck!
