    Xbox One contoller not registering button hits.


    I have a Xbox One 1st gen, I guess it would be called. It is brand new out of the box. Yes it is a few years old but the problem started out of the box when my cousin opened it and never returned it so it was never used.

    The issue I am trying to fugure out is why the co troller is not being picked up by the xbox. I have tried the co troller that came with it, a known good contoller from a newer model Xbox One and neither will connect. I also tried USB connecting both with
    no effect. The xbox will not go past the opening screen of the xbox controller and it telling you to press the home button on the controller. I am trying to get some basic trouble shooting ideas before i have to send it in for repair and the xbox troubleshooting
    guide on this site says you need a new controller which makes no sense because 3 total controllers have been tried.

    BashfulMars, press the small button with the 3 lines on the centre of your contoller and select to quit the app and then open it again hopefully the app should now start correctly and allow you to register :D

    The controller came with the console,it's not a second one.But i resolved by speaking with Xbox support and after finding out it is my warranty they arranged to send me a replacement.

    Unfortunately the warranty period on the controller is only 90 days. Is your controller updated completely? It may be that the controller is faulty. Good Luck!
