Xbox One Console power off when connecting to wifi

I bought my xbox one s several months ago to a year ago. I tried several times to try and set up my console to the wireless network in my home. every time i try to connect the console to the network the console powers off and loads back to the getting start
with the controller prompt of the a button highlighted to connect to the wireless network again. This is really upsetting and caused me to miss out on the experience of the new game console.

Xbox one wifi, desperate for help

I've had my Xbox one for a little over a month and I just got home from vacation and I tried to play it but it reset my connection and now when I try to reconnect to my wifi the Xbox will shut off and reset itself every single time. I thought it was my power cord but I tried 6 different ones and I'm still having the same issue. I can play games offline but when trying to connect to the Internet and my wifi signal the Xbox will just shut off and turn back on with some weird Xbox starting screen

Should have started your own thread since this is a shit old thread and your problems diff. But, for easy sake, i'd say post a screen of this "weird" xbox starting screen.

Your xbox one should absolutely not power off when using wifi, that makes zero sense unless there is somehow a short inside. Have you tried connecting to the net using a wired connection with an ethernet wire? Just see if the system goes online without issue that way.

Is your xbox plugged directly into the wall or is it plugged into a powerstrip / surge protector?

Has the console ever been able to connect once and update so you can actually use it?

If not, and this is the first time you try to set the console up, temporarily try to use a wired connection, just to get the console set up and up to date.

After the initial setup and console update, you can try to use WiFi again, and see if the problem persists.

If the console still shuts off when connected to WiFi, you should send the console in for service through

But serious for now, you have some WiFi connection problems with your Xbox Console?

Other devices in your home dont have any issues (WiFi devices)?

The connection works before correct?

You can try to restart (power off & power on) your router / WiFi accesspoint.

Try to clear the cache from the console by holding down the power button for 10 secs and try again.

If it doesn't work, try turning off the router (keep it turned off for at least one minute) and turn it back on. Is the connection with WiFi or ethernet cable?

If you have the console connected with WiFi, try using an ethernet cable (the connection is more reliable and stable).

Hi, it is a western digital passport 2 tb usb 3.0. Xbox one s formated it when i put into.

The next day I power on consolle for play and no connection.

Mmm very strange i thinked. I reset router, change ssid, Power off router for 10 minutes, use other wifi, take off password , use reserved ip andress. Nothing...only with cable. So i take off hard disk, restart and wifi is perfect on line. I don't know.

Hey there NiTZHD!

Sorry to hear about the WiFi issue! Are you able to get connected through a wired connection? I would try doing a full power cycle to see if your Xbox One will find WiFi networks afterwards. Follow these steps below to do so!

Press and hold the power button on the Xbox One console for 10 seconds.
Once the unit is powered off, unplug the power cable from the Xbox One and let it sit for 5 minutes.
Plug the power back into the unit and power the console on.
