Xbox One Console keeps losing connecting to the External Hard Drive

Pretty much the problem since over a year ago as read in this thread:

After playing a game for about 15 minutes, the console loses connection to the external hard drive and the game crashes. REALLY sad that this has been going on since June 2014 and it STILL has not been fixed. That's OVER one year ago!

I have the WD MyBook 4 TB external hdd as recommended by Major Nelson.

Network no longer works

Here is a relevant note from the known issues summary, I hope you find it useful

Wireless Networking:

You may encounter a “wireless network hardware on this console is not working” error when connecting to Xbox Live with a wireless connection.

Your Xbox One console may be unable to detect a wireless connection while an external hard drive is plugged in. Workaround: Unplug the external hard drive, hard reset the console, connect to WiFi, then connect the external hard driv

 

Connecting an external hard drive to xbox one console

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I didn't really see any where this fit. My problem: I bought a new external hard drive for my PC and was trying to use the older one for my xbox one. The xbox one recognizes the external but does not
give me an option to format it for use with the xbox one, allowing only media such as movies, pictures etc., making it useless. I would really like to know how to fix this as my internal drive is 91.9% full and I will not be able to add more games in the
future if I can not access the external. Buying another drive isn't an option in the present and near future

i'm having the same problem, got the external device ready pop-up every 1 or 2 minutes

 

Hey guys, did You try to change USB port and USB cable? Just in case.

 

I tried the 3 usb ports and still getting the problem

 

i formated the external hard drive with the computer and then with the xbox one and works fine now
