Xbox One console getting hot

Ok so i have had my xbox since day one and normally its cool on the vent but the past month its been getting pretty hot and today i was on call of duty and when i came off the game a heard a real loud noise so i took my headset off and it was the fan spinning
faster then normal, after about 20 seconds it slowed down. Now i think the fan going faster then normal was to cool the xbox down and i was wondering if i should be worried and if anyone else has ever had this happen before?

I don't have any problems with my console running too hot. Does your console malfunction due to getting too hot?

Hold your hand above the vent,if you can feel the air being blown out your fan will be working fine and it won`t overheat.

 

Do what I do, take four 2 litre bottle caps and place them under the 4 grip points on the under part of the console. This will buy you almost a inch of space for air to flow under it. works like a charm.

 

Some games make it run warmer. MKX for example. It's normal. My cable box is always hot and I never turn it off.

The games now (and previously) are not close to kicking the fans on. We are used to it being extremely quiet...so once the games start getting more intensive... more power needed..

more power = more heat= more fan = more noise

I have heard my fan kick on maybe 3 times...bit never had a loss in "work"

You might have noticed it the last month or so because it has been quite warm here in the UK as well. Even when it's raining lol it can still be pretty humid.

I have noticed in the past my fans kick in for about 20 seconds or so. I know it definitely done it while playing Sniper Elite 3 but console seems to be fine, had no issues.

 

Hmmm Never been able to hear mine over a game...

I suppose it's only when it actually starts failing that you should be concerned. It's a shame we're not allowed to check system info like temps etc, check nothing is cooking.

 

I love the bottle cap idea that Deadfall suggested.

 

I also once a week just use a hoover nozzle ( not on the most powerful setting ) and get any dust out that builds up around the vents.

I'd imagine too much dust getting into the console, clogging up vents/fans could cause issues.

 

Why not try a laptop cooling stand, that's what Ive done. its gives you some clearance underneath and also has fans for added coolness.

You plug it in your usb slot and away you go. mine lights blue underneath too.

ps mine was dirt cheap form Amazon, a few quid.

I had one of them coolers for my 360. Got red ring of death like month after.

 

Never had my fan ramp up except for a couple times during the early part of the preview, and that was only for a few seconds.

Both X1s run quiet and "warm". I do have a lot of space around my boxes and they both sit on rubber bumpers (Found at hardware store. They raise the console another 1/4".). The longest I played W.O.T.s was for 2 1/2 hours and that didn't appear to make it
run any warmer than usual.
