Xbox One Console Crackling/Ticking Noise (HDD/FAN)

Hello..So I bought the TitanFall bundle recently, last month in March, and notice that when I put my head up near the front of the console I hear a crackling/ticking sound...almost like the sound of Pop Rocks or something. When I turn the console into Energy
Saving mode it doesn't make the noise at all when turned off. I was wondering if anyone else has heard or currently has an Xbox One that makes a similar sound when you listen to it closely. If anyone can comment or knows what I should do to resolve this,
please reply with advice. Thank You.

FYI : My console runs perfectly fine, no problems whatsoever just hear a crackling/ticking noise from the front/top of the unit.

Instant-On power mode and constant HDD activity

That really quiet ticking noise that you can't hear unless you stick your ear on the console? That's not the HDD. HDDs don't make a ticking noise like that.

 

Faulty/noisy HDD

So i got my advance replacement already submitted but I was just curious how many other are affected by this issue. It started with a ticking noise on standby with my console the fan turned off and it still ticked like a clock so i called support and they
said it wasn't normal and to get it replaced. So while i'm waiting for the new console I figured it may be the hard drive so I tried downloading kinect rivals (not sure name) and when i put the console into standby to download the noise was way worse before
it was a soft ticking of a clock only head up close but now its a buzzing noise so the problem is the HDD because the noise does not occur when shut down. When the xbox is on the fan pretty much make the noise not noticeable.

Is there any others with a HDD issue?

 

I also want to note that when I start up a game (TitanFall installed on HDD) or a demo of some sort the noise sounds to increase slightly.

My disk drive works perfectly fine with no issues or weird sounds. I tried playing several different Blu-Ray discs and they worked well.

I believe this is an issue with the HDD after doing some other reading but still would like to hear from anyone else that may know whether or not this is normal and to not worry about it any further. Thanks.

 

mine makes noise as well in sleep mode, but it's intermittent and doesn't happen all the time. I can't remember if it was a ticking noise or a crackling but it definitely sounds not normal.

 

Just bought the xbox one titanfall bundle also,and I am experiencing the same. Is this a faulty box and should it be replaced? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

The sound you're hearing is the hard drive being accessed. It's quite normal. The reason you can hear it is because the console fan is so quiet. It's the same with my gaming PC, which I built to be as close to silent as possible - the hard drive is the loudest
component in it when the machine isn't being stressed.

When the console is in sleep mode, sometimes it will download game/app patches, so when that's happening you'll hear the same noise.

 

Yeh I'm getting the same sound when it's on 'instant on' mode. I'm pretty sure that it is supposed to be like that as the console has to keep ticking over in order for it to boot 'instantly', though it is really annoying sometimes.

 

I have been getting the same on and off for the last week, however unlike the rest of you on here, each time i hear the noise my xbox wont register the HDMI. The only thing that fixes this temporarily is a hard reset. I came on this morning though to find
out even that isnt fixing it. Tried lots of different HDMI leads and that hasnt worked, tried leaving the xbox off for a while before I turn it back on. Not sure what else I am supposed to do except send the xbox back..
