Xbox One console clicks from time to time in certain moments.

Hi everyone,

I am new on the forum (and also new user of xbox). Sorry for my English - it's not my first language.

I have a brand new Xbox one (about a one week old) - It is my second one, since my first one had ridiculously loud HDD. Recently I decided to try one more time and bought the second one. Everything is great - system is really quiet and all, but I have another
issue - random clicking.

At first I thought that it is just TV/console plastic that clicks due to the heat, but then I realised it comes from inside the console. It is not the famous "cricket" nor "old printer" sound - that issue went away after first patch I downloaded right after
the first connection. The sound that bothers me is always single, ONE click and occurs in certain places (examples: while listening to the tapes in menu of MGSV: Ground Zeroes or painting cars in Forza 6) in about 5 minutes intervals.
There is no other audio or viusal efffects (frame drops, freezes), just the click. It occurs during both disc and digital play. I'd say it comes from the right side of the console, somewhere around HDD or the fan, but it is really hard to
tell while hoovering over the console for 5 minutes while waiting for it.

I've already used the MS chat help - the service was ok I guess, but not very helpful. Consultant told me that it is normal and that's probably a disc spinning in the drive. After telling him that there was no disc in the drive, he just told me to observe
it. Still, I feel pretty uneasy about it.

I found maybe two random cases on the web, but nothing revealing.

I'm really worried about the hard disc, but on the other hand, I don't want to send the console back and wait again (and eventually have it back with clicking). Basically, my question is: does any clicking coming from the console is the sign of problems?

I have a video of it clicking, I guess it depicts the issue very well, but I don't know if I'm allowed to post links here.

Hi! My Xbox one disconnects from xbox live and i have to connect it back. I connected it and i got the messages 'DNS not resolving server names' and 'Can't get IP address'. I use a Linksys X1000 N300 Wireless Router with ADSL2 + Modem, if anyone could help
that would be great!

Rebooting your router by unplugging/ turning it off for 30 seconds usually fixes that problem, its not a fault with your xbox its a connection error.

Sorry you're hearing some noises with your console. So yes the Xbox One is almost silent, but it does have moving parts and with any moving parts you'll hear noise. As the chat agent told you it's most likely the Bluray drive. If you feel it's the hard drive
and it's brand new, depending on where you purchased it you can try to exchange it. If you're out of the replacement period, then my suggestion would just be to watch it. It's very likely a harmless noise.
