Xbox One consistently freezing up during games

It's frustrating to see, but I've been seeing freezes occur on my system (1TB Xbox One S Battlefield 1 Bundle) around every hour or two when I go to play games. I've had this console since the black friday sales in November, so I've owned it for less than
a month so far. I'll be playing something like Battlefield 1 and I'll notice something off like I can't equip a weapon or the map textures won't load in a certain spot, so I'll fall through the world. Then, when it goes to load something else (like after you
die and it attempts to reload a checkpoint), I'll see a black screen. Then, I'll attempt to back out to the Xbox One main screen, but the main screen doesn't load until around a minute later or at all. Once I attempt to do anything like open the settings app,
I'll see an error notification along with a hexadecimal value saying something along the lines of 'Settings took too long'. And this freezing issue isn't a game-specific issue, I've seen this issue appear in Just Cause 3 as well.

I've owned the Xbox 360 from its launch and played through a plethora of games that had their issues. This is like nothing I've seen before with a console. When I powercycle my system, it seems ok until I play for about another hour, then I just basically
go through the same process, over and over. Perhaps it's just my issue, or perhaps it's a known issue having to do with the Xbox One S console specifically, but I don't know.

The following are the list of solutions that I've attempted:

    1) Powercycled the console (held power button down for 8+ seconds until it turns completely off).

    2) Unplugged the system and waited a full minute before restarting to clear the cache.

    3) Deleted local game content and re-synced it from the cloud.

    4) Removed and re-instated my account.

    5) Backed out to Xbox One home screen and quit game.

    6) Reset the video settings by turning the console off and then holding the 'Power' button in addition to the 'Eject' button.

Has anyone else been facing these issues? Is there anything else I should try before contacting support?

    :)

    Xbox 360 Slim freeze.

If it's consistently freezing even without a storage device attached, yes.

    Update:

Contacted support and they recommended a full restore, citing corrupt files. I've completed the full restore and I'm reinstalling a game to test for a couple hours.

I will update this thread within 24 hours to see if the full restore solved the issue or if it still persists.

    Update 2:

While installing a game after the factory reset, my system still experienced the 8027025A or 'app took too long' error (occurred twice during the installation process and had to hard reset the system). This leads me to believe that the issue is not game-related
at all, but rather that the OS itself is running into some issues. I contacted support again, to see if I was eligible for a hardware exchange. During our conversation, the support member told me that the Xbox Live services are undergoing an upgrade and I
should wait and try running my system again in 24 hours to see if the issue persists. I will update this thread on Wednesday (approx. 72 hours from now) to give my results of the system running with the new Xbox Live upgrades in place.

    Update 3:

Saw an update for Xbox One today and downloaded it. After downloading it and playing a game for a while, the same issues appeared around an hour after startup. I tested this three times in total. Two were in game, where the game would experience loading
issues and backing out to the homescreen and attempting to quit/restart the game would result in the 'took too long' error code. The final one was just letting the Xbox sit in the main menu for over an hour. This ended up in the same result; attempting to
launch the sidebar resulted in a system hang. Unfortunately, the latest updates to Xbox live did not help either. I believe this issue is hardware-related.

    Update 4:

Contacted support again. This time a support member believed that the issue could be related to power. They instructed me to plug the system into a wall outlet, instead of a power strip. I set the system up with a wall outlet and after an hour, the issue
appeared again: the game stopped loading, I backed out to the main menu. I was shown a popup saying that my game saves may be corrupted, so I attempted to go to the settings menu to delete local game saves. The settings menu never loaded. Instead, I was left
with a black screen until the system eventually turned itself off.

    Hey there sector46,

We typically see the took to long error when there is an issue with the hard drive. It could also explain the glitches and crashes. Are you using an external hard drive with the console or just the internal? If you're using an external, try to remove it
and play off the internal to see if it helps. I'm inclined to agree that it doesn't seem game related at all at this point as well.

Let us know how it goes!
