Xbox One connection issues with certain games

So I have been having some trouble connecting to certain games i.e neverwinter, killer instinct etc I made a post on reddit but thought Id also post here because it's driving me crazy! some detailed info about my problem.

I recently moved for school to a friends place, and am starting to have issues with Xbox One connection issues. A few things to consider. It only happens on certain games ie killer instinct, neverwinter. I am able to talk with friends perfectly fine, and
play games like battlefield, smite.

We have a Airport Extreme connected to our modem(the modem does not NAT), and I have tried plugging in the xbox directly into the modem as well to no avail. When I visit my parents house any issues are not present and I can connect to the games perfectly
fine(different service provider).

After searching on the internet I found several tutorials telling me to enable teledo tunnels(check), port forwarding the airport extreme with xbox known ports(check), removed said games and re installed(check), reset the airport extreme to default settings(check),
reset xbox to default settings(check), and still nothing is improving.

Additional notes, we are on START communications - GDPR policy | start.ca located in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. Xbox says nat type is OPEN, in detailed view it says we are behind a cone nat. We just tried hotspotting the xbox to our iphones 3G connection and
it WORKS fine, so I'm starting to think it could be the actual modem from start communications ? Modem model DCM476 Welcome - Canada Computers & Electronics

Along with what brandiesel1 suggested is your console plugged into a power strip or surge protector?

Also, do you use an external hard drive with your console?

I would try using the network troubleshooter:
support.xbox.com/.../network-connection-error-solution

Most connection issues can be fixed by using this. If it persists and you think it is still an ISP issue I would replace the modem through them if possible.

I just ran the test and I get back Everything is good your console is connected to the internet.

I'm thinking this all has to do with the modem at this point

 

Sounds like it might be. I would call your ISP and have them replace it for you.

 

Just called the ISP, they gave really no help kept saying it's a client side issue and that the modem is fine.. meanwhile If i hotspot my phone to the xbox the problems disappear so it's obviously not client side! Asked for a modem swap and because their
tests showed everything fine they wont do one. Kind of stumped here ahhh

 

Have you attempted to reset your internet?

Turn off power to the Xbox

Unplug your modem

Unplug your router (if you have one)

Wait a couple of minutes

plug in modem

wait a minute

plug in router (if you have one)

turn back on Xbox

See if that works.

 

Yes, I did a hard reboot of the router Xbox and modem as well did a factory reset
