Xbox one connected to internet but will not update

You can update your Xbox One offline as long as you have access to a PC with internet connection and USB key that can be used to transport the update file to your Xbox One

To use your Xbox without an Internet connection you will have to put it into "Offline" mode otherwise it will try to log you into Live and complain about no internet connection. You can do this in the Network settings on your Xbox One.

Sometimes this process can be long depending on the speed of your internet connection. Typically you will have a progress bar while your Xbox is updating. Do you have one and is it moving. Also, can you use your Xbox at all without updating?

On the Xbox 360
this is now possible after one of the last System updates. The Xbox One can NOT do that currently.

In order to use that function, your console must already be updated to the latest version AND have the most updated Internet Explorer app installed. So you might have to connect the Xbox 360 to a "normal" network first and let it update it's system and Internet
Explorer app.

If the console and Internet Explorer are up to date, you can do a network test in the system settings, and the console will redirect you to the Internet Explorer app, where you then can sign in.

As a workaround on the Xbox One, connect your PC to the network properly. After the PC is signed in, make a note of the PC's MAC address of the network adapter that is used to connect to the network.

In the advanced network settings of the Xbox one, copy the MAC address of the PC to the Xbox One, and it should also be able to connect.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean but whenever I try to do anything network based, either from the error page or the general settings, it always sends me back to the error page.

I have found another forum with the same error code however their problem is more to do with the network connection than the update. I know my problem is probably mostly due to the network connection, but it's not letting me connect at all.

I've now plugged in a network cable, but the xbox is still offline. When I checked the wired network from the error page it said more authentication needed and then sent me straight back to the error page when I tried to authenticate it. Other times it doesn't even get to the authentication needed page.

Have you tried resetting by bringing the troubleshooter? Just to check if the Xbox is going to actually let you connect to the internet before trying to update itself!
