So could the X1's secret sauce be "Voxel" Cone Ray Tracing?

He says fundamental Ray Tracing is no where near next gen but XB1 could use Voxel Cone Ray Tracing which is less taxing and has really good results.

don't forget..... MS still needs to do the research to prove out their theory about ray tracing. at this point, that's all it is. theory

 

? They are doing experiments, and the visuals are amazing, sounds more then a theory to me?

 

Yeah this is one of the ways to 4k.... Streaming is the other... Either way the grunt is done remotely... As for the amiga I loved it.... Had a 500 and a 1200 and was some of my best gaming days.... Bloodwych was awesome, nuclear war, north and south plus
the legendary Elite probably cost me more than 10% off my high school grades...

RAY TRACING

 

Still a bit on the confusing side, but if it can help gaming improve in any way, shape, or form then I'm all for it.

 

@N7 Gh0stz heres what it is and what it could look like.

 

It's to do with lighting and the like, it'll potentially make games truly photo-realistic. Thing is, Xbox One (nor PS4) are actually capable of using it - the Cloud potentially is, but you'd need an excellent internet connection or they invent some way
of catering for +50ms ping connections. Still, it is the future.
